Hi guys,

I recently installed a EVGA GTX 670 FTW into my computer and now my computer will intermittently turn off and won't power back on.  Motherboard light is on.  Sometimes the fan tries to start and turns off immediately other times it won't spin at all.  When I unplug the card everything seems to work fine.  When I plug the card back in, it also works fine (until it shuts itself off at some random point in the future).  Another weird issue happened where my monitor would not turn on at one point until i disconnected the dvi cable and replugged it back in.  The monitor wasn't asleep it just wasn't on at all.  Does anybody have an idea as to what's causing this?

Hope somebody can help.

Could you give us your total specifications? What motherboard are you using, power supply, processor, etc.. This will help pinpoint your problem faster.

As far as your monitor goes with it not turning on at all, I've had a similar situation with my GTX 690. It would only output on one of the DVI ports for some reason or another. The only time this would be an exception is when I would use triple monitors and it would output on all three. Your power supply does meet the minimum requirement for the GTX 670, so your PSU might not be it unless you've had it for quite awhile (unfortunately they do go bad eventually). Try your other DVI port and restart your pc and run a game or benchmark if you can.

My PSU is new.  Actually it's a completely new build so I'm not actually sure which part is reliable.  I will try to run some benchmarks when i get home tonight.

    Hello Trivuong76,

Welcome to the forums. I would recommend testing your card using OC Scanner along side Precision X that can be found on our site to stress and monitor the cards vitals and keep and eye on the temps for any possible over heating issues. Also with Heaven Benchmark http://unigine.com/products/heaven/ and 3DMark 11 http://www.3dmark.com/3dmark11/ to give us more controlled results. If possible testing the card in a different computer to isolate the card away from your existing computer which may help confirm if the issue is isolated to the card or an underlying issue with in your current system. Please keep us updated with the results of your testing so we can further assist you.
If you have any concerns or further questions please do not hesitate to contact Tech Support 24/7 888-881-3842.

    Regards,

I really appreciate everybody's help.  Before I ran the benchmarks I took the computer apart and put it back together again just to make sure there wasn't anything loose or improperly mounted.

I ran OC Scanner for about an hour and a half and GPU temperature never exceeded 79 degrees Celsius.

Heaven Benchmark score was 1108, fps was 44.9 under extreme setting.

3d Mark score was just under 9000 I believe.

I guess everything is behaving normally?  The system's been running for about 4 hours so far without any problems.  Going to leave it on overnight and keep my fingers crossed!

    Hello Trivuong76,

Please do keep us updated with any results you encounter. Though your load temperatures do have me a bit worried as they are a bit on the high side. Average temperatures under load should be between 60-70 degrees Celsius. You may want to take the side panel of your case off and point a house fan directly into your case at the video card providing cold are to it. If the temps drop then there might be an issue with the air flow with in your case not providing enough cold air inside.

    Regards,
