Jeffreyham, there are tons of LCD monitors with only analog VGA connections. I suppose in your eyes there are millions of "ignorant" people. Good job with the insults. My first thought was a bad 12v rail on your PSU, but after seeing you have a 750TX, that would not be the case since it has a single 60A 12v rail. If possible, check the card in another PC, if you have the same problems, it's time to RMA. Wouldn't be the first DOA card in the World.

If possible, check the card in another PC, if you have the same problems, it's time to RMA. Wouldn't be the first DOA card in the World. Yes, there are...old ones. Most newer ones have both VGA and DVI and lately also HDMI. Just because they are there doesn't mean that it is BEST to use it. They are there for 2 main reasons:(1) For people who do not have a digital output on their old graphics card. (2) So the manufacturer can get by on the cheap. Very few of them include the more expensive DVI-D cable in the box. If you want the nicer digital picture that the monitor is designed to display, you are forced to buy the cable seperately...saving them money and costing you more. My point is: When you spend all that money on a nice new graphics card (with digital outputs) and a digital monitor...it is "ignorant" to display an analog picture on it. One should want to see the best possible picture and spend a few more dollars on the right digital cable to make that happen. And yes, there are millions of "ignorant" people out there in the world who don't take a few minutes of time to educate themselves and learn how to properly operate the stuff that they buy. They have "more cents than sense." BTW...I did not insult RBIEZE or anyone else. I said, "it is ignorant to do that" ... not you are ignorant. So, if you want to flame me for something I said to someone else....then, I suggest you get your facts straight and make sure I deserve it. Another BTW...I'm pretty sure that if HE felt that I insulted him, HE would have no trouble taking that up with me and doesn't need you to speak for him.

You stated earlier that your computer worked with your old video card,---What was it? Are you even sure that your motherboard has a PCi-e x16 slot, or just a PCi-e slot for video. If you only have a PCi-e slot for your video card and not a PCi-e x16 slot, you're not going to get this card to work in your computer. A PCi-e 2.0 x16 card is backwards compatible with only a PCi-e x16 slot, not a plain old PCi-e slot. If that were the case though, you shouldn't even be able to install the card at all.

This is the only motherboard layout I could find for that particular model You don't want to remove the 8200 from the device manager. What I would do: 1. remove nvidia drivers (after removing, id manually delete the nvidia folder @ root) ALSO remove physx. 2. remove chipset drivers 3. reboot into safe mode - run driver sweeper (select chipset, physx, video) 4. reboot into safe mode - install chipset/video drivers and reboot I don't know why your motherboard doesn't allow the onboard video to be "OFF" and has it set to Auto. I'm sure thats the only option you have, but it's just weird. Given that you can switch the video cable and get instant video from the onboard, my first thought is that the motherboard switched it when you took out your old card, and hasn't recognized the new one. try the above and see how it goes. My 285's have a green light if they are ok, and a red light if they don't have enough power (which has happened when I forgot to plug 1 of the PCI-E power in) Make sure the tail end of the card is seated, as most motherboards have that click tab you have to pull out to even remove the card. Ive had that get in the way once. Oh, and check to make sure your video connection to the card is on the right port (if the 260 has 2 x DVI) I know a lot of this may sound insulting, but any computer enthusiast worth his salt has made PLENTY of really really dumb mistakes. Usually ones we fix hours after troubleshooting, where we see the problem and go OH DUH

Well, thanks for helping guys. I got it to work earlier today and it's working great.. I ended up taking the graphics card out and then doing a clean install of windows.. Then after windows came on for the first time, I shutdown, put in the gfx card, and set the bios right. Once I shutdown from there it worked when I turned it on then got to install the drivers. Thanks alot everyone who helped!!

What a good deal!!! Looks like you should have done what I suggested in post #38 and not had to reinstall Windows. PLEASE, do yourself a favor and if your LCD monitor has a DVI input plug on it (like your 260 has)...buy yourself a Dual-Link DVI-D Cable so that you can be enjoying a true digital picture instead of an Analog one. As you are looking at the back of your tower...plug the cable into the left plug on the card. You won't regret the purchase. This is a real fine one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9875857 You can find them alot more expensive and some a little cheaper. I have one of these that I use when working on my friends' rigs. It is a good quality cable.

I guess you will be saving up for a new monitor. There are some real good ones out nowadays for around $120 and getting one and the appropriate cable will really make a great improvement for you. I'd be happy to help you pick one out if you want. Just let me know. ENJOY your new card!!!
