How on Earth do people get amazing cable management with just a few cables visible? Here is a pic of a build I did for a friend:

http://i402.photobucket.c.../pp101/jscapi01/pc.jpg

It's in an Antec 300 so I don't have a lot of options, but even in my 1200 I don't understand how people hide all of their cables so well, such as the tiny ones in the picture on the right side (HDD, power, reset). What am I missing here?

You can't get amazing cable management in an Antec 300 without modding it.  Even then it is too small for it to look jaw-dropping.  As for the Antec 1200, there are holes on the motherboard tray where the cables can pass through, and then use cable ties to secure them behind the motherboard tray.

Someone who actually owns an Antec 1200 can give you tips and tricks on how to hide cables in that particular case.  But do you have a picture of your Antec 1200 showing the cable management?

First off, having a case that encourages cable management is a big step towards hiding those cables away. Myself, I love my CM 690 II for all the places my cables can go.

Step 1 is to remove all the unnecessary cables or cables you don't need. Next is to use every avenue to hide wires, under the MB, behind the MB tray, etc. That's how I did it :) But some peoples are even better.

That looks realllllllllllllly nice! What do you mean remove cables that I don't need? I don't have a modular PSU so I can only do so much with that... but what about the smaller ones? Those are the ones that annoy me the most.

First you should have the 24 pin main motherboard cable routed behind the holes in the case. Second the 8 pin ATX cord should be tucked behind your power supply then going straight up and under your gpu since you don't have a 8 pin extension. The audio cable should be tucked behind the power supply as well.

Here is a pic of what i am talking about with tucking the cords behind the psu. This was my old setup with 2 GTX 260's and my Vigor Monsoon III heatsink.

Here is a front and back of my current rig with the Antec 1200

I have an antec 900 with pretty good management. I can take a pic when I get home if that helps. I had to drill a few holes and get a little creative but it wasn't too hard....

I usually start from a clean slate (no cables) and before I plug them in, I think about how to hide it. Give some thought into every single cable.

Also, this may seem counter-intuitive, but it is often easier to hide longer cables. They can reach places you can't see, and can often be bundled up in nooks and compartments. Like, for example, I could just plug my rear fan into the fan controller, but it would leave a dangling cable in the middle of my window. So I use a fan extension to route the cable down, across the back, and up to the fan controller. It adds more cable, but it's out of the way and can't be seen!

Also, if you can't hide most of the cables, you can always paint the case, and dye or sleeve the cables. This will make what cables do show, much less noticeable. That is, if you're really into aesthetics.

if you remove the links and just do this:   [image]xxxx[/image] they will appear in your posts like so...

My trick to cable management when all else fails is to use Zip ties and adheasive pads with plastic zip tie slots on them....

These are older pictures of my computer and a few I built for other people, but they get the point across
