I was tired of having to open my case and wedge my hand or my long tweezers to move the jumper. I tried a jumper with a "handle" on it and still not a big help. I got to thinking that MB makers should put a switch or button on the I/O. I saw that some of the new EVGA boards have them, well great for you all who can afford all that.

This is for the ghetto, cheap or DIY guys. I have a really ghetto soldering iron and no holder/cleaner so it takes me a while...I have a BIG list of tools that need replacing. My Dremel is one of them too, the high setting has died...

It is pretty straight forward. 3 pins, 3 wires and three switch contacts.

Here it is:

I used an old 3 pin fan power connector. Soldered on the 3 wires in order to the switch.

Here is the switch with the 3 pin at the other end.

Used what was left of my Dremel to cut a PCI bracket for the switch to fit.

What do you all think? Took me about 50 min as I have a ghetto soldering iron, dying Dremel and a kid that would not sleep...so it should go faster for just about everyone else.

EDIT: It does work. And I don't have to open my case and fool with the jumper any more!

I have never had to reset the CMOS, assuming that is the jumper you are talking about. Many motherboards have a button or switch now instead of the old jumper. On most of the newer motherboards, even the low cost ones, manufacturers seem to have gotten rid of the jumper. I will be happy when that is a standard feature on all motherboards but by that time there probably won't be a BIOs anymore, they'll be something newer which does the same thing.

It helps me tones when I get an OC that won't post, which on this board happens often. It saves me trouble if I try to OC again. This board is like 2-3 years old. It actually shuts off when you exit the BIOS, not sure why but it is supposed to as far as I can tell.

I'm actually surprised you can't buy something like this to attach to the board already. Heck slayer_27 , you should patent it, you might make a million bux !!

Sure thing, how much is a patent? I say MSRP would be like $8 so it would sell for $6, I would pay that. We all know only car dealers have a sticker with the MSRP on it...lol and anyone who pays that...Heck, enough money to get me some better tools would be enough.

This is something I wish they made a long time ago. I actually had TONS of ideas when I was a kid but most of them are already invented and "As seen on TV".

If people here did not have like 70% EVGA boards that already have this feature I could try to market it here. Maybe I will try anyways.

Is it just the switch or does it have the wires to connect? I assume the latter. Mine is better cause I made it. And it only cost me $3.

Thanks. My mounting bracket needs work though. They have the aesthetics but I have the 1337n355 of doing it myself. I could sell mine for 1/2 that, booya Silverstone!
