So I've been itching to mod my CM 690 II since I got it back in July. I want to add windows to both panels and put light features around the case. I work in the Air Force and my shop has this laser etcher so I was able to use it for cutting out all the parts I needed. I used 1/4" inch acrylic for the material, and dremel to cut out this first window on the left side panel. Its not finished yet, when I get out of school next week I will resume work. Its supposed to be a star wars theme, the writing is in the font style of the old republic games.

So the holiday season kept me away from modding my case, but I finally got the window cut out and installed. Take a look. Next I will add light accents to the top of the case, hopefully will get it done within the next week or two, just school and work keep me occupied .

So, is this going to take as long as the releaes of SWTOR? Just kidding! I like it! It's nice and subtle and conveys your idea very well.

So I FINALLY got around to doing something with this case, like I planned. So heres the worklog for the first two fancy light pieces I have installed on my CM 690 II case. First I took everything out of my case, it needed a good clean anyways and I took the top panel off as well as removed the usb connectors and switches. Then I got to work on the top part, using a dremel to cut away at the plastic. I had marked out where I needed to cut. The plastic melted very easily so I had to continually use a file to get the edges somewhat smooth. Always use protection! This is what goes on the top, I just installed the larger one today, I have to get some more LED lighting for the smaller one. Cutting away at the plastic, the stuff burns too! Fit test, you can see how much I needed to take out. The acrylic is about 5mm thick. Now that both sides are cut, its time to mount the LED lights. I choose LED's because they don't require an inverter like the cathodes do, they are however, a little more expensive. The results: So that was the first phase on my upgrades, later I will tie these lights into the switch that controls the front fan light and add some more of these acrylic lighting features to other parts of the case.

Thanks, I think the dremel does wonders to simple projects like this. Definately worth an investment if you ask me
