On the overnight hours of April 14th-15th 2014 there will be a lunar ellipse that turns the moon blood red. There is going to be four blood moons going to happen. Two this year in 2014 and two next year in 2015. After those four blood moons happen, the next one wont happen until another 1000 years.

Here is a calendar of all the the blood moons that every happened throughout history.

As you can see these have been happening on Jewish holidays. According to ancient Jewish tradition, a lunar eclipse is a harbinger of bad things for Israel.  If that eclipse is blood red, that is a sign that war is coming. Some Jewish people say that once these blood moons happen that bad things will happen upon the Jewish people. Quite frankly its ironic that every time there was a blood moon something did always went bad for them. The latest blood red moons that happened fell during Passover 1967, the Feast of Tabernacles 1967, Passover 1968 and the Feast of Tabernacles 1968.  And of course the 1967 war during which Israel took full control of Jerusalem took place during that time period.  I just want to point out also there was a “tetrad” of blood red moons that fell during Passover 1949, the Feast of Tabernacles 1949, Passover 1950 and the Feast of Tabernacles 1950.  If you know your history, you already are aware that the Israeli War of Independence ended on July 20th, 1949. So this is some very very interesting stuff indeed. Well I sure do love learning and seeing anything that has astronomy.

Its going to be interesting to see what happens this time around.  I pray that nothing tragic happens this time around but more peace in that area.  Tired of all these wars and innocent men, women and children being killed.

That doesn't look very red to me.  Could it just be the camera?

After those four blood moons happen, the next one wont happen until another 1000 years.

In the next 1000 years there will be more than 800 total lunar eclipses (blood moons).
Even the tetrad of 4 consecutive total lunar eclipse isn't extremely uncommon, there will be 6 more tetrads by the end of this century.

As you can see these have been happening on Jewish holidays

Jewish Festivals are dictated by the lunar cycle, so of course there will be a strong correlation between full moon, lunar eclipses and Jewish festivals.

On the bright side, if there is a lunar eclipse in the USA then it's probably daytime in Israel so nothing bad will happen there.

You had my attention until you went off the deep end starting at "As you can see these have been happening on Jewish holidays." I'm under the impression the internet messes up certain people's capacity for correlating cause and effect. Either that or people are sharpening their troll skills.

The main thing that makes the Moon red is that it occurs low on the horizon requiring you to view it through more atmosphere than if it was directly overhead. That is compounded by things like grassland and forest fire smoke coloring the light traveling through the sky at that viewing angle. You'll always see a red Moon low on the horizon if you've had a fire of any scale near your location. See it a lot with burning off fields in the mid-west seasonally.

I saw it when up for a bit around 3:30 AM and was nice, but not quite what I was expecting. Prior to that, it really was not red at all, mostly gray.
