System specs:
11900k,
Z590 FTW,
3090FTW hybrid, (W 3 individual pcie power connections, no daisy chains)
3200mhz Gear1 memory (for now),
2tb 980pro,
axi 1600w psu.
windows 10, UEFI, secure boot enabled, CSM disabled
I am not yet overclocking, these are stock settings (for now) I had a few questions regarding bios and post codes.  first bios questions.
- 1. I have "TVB Ratio Clipping" to disabled.  is this correct for tvb to work properly?
- 2. I have "TVB Voltage optimizations" set to enabled.  is this correct for tvb to work properly?
- 3. Is there anyway to get rid of the Z590FTW splash screen on start up?

next is the POST code question:
- 4. I keep getting short beeps before what sounds like a "normal" POST beep.  Is this normal?  I end up on an "A0" post code which I think is normal?

Yeah I believe A0 is standard normal boot. 30/40 are some type of awaken from sleep mode.

Instead of seeing A0 if you let the computer fall asleep it will not wake back up to A0 it will be a different code. Nothing wrong just that it was awoken and it likely won't go back to A0 until restarted.

I believe the beeps are for how many USB devices you have plugged in. This was freaking me out at first, but I found a note about it in the manual somewhere. I also confirmed by counting before and after plugging in an additional USB thumb drive.

Also, I think those TVB settings are correct...I think.

Thanks, I appreciate the answer but you don’t really sound sure. I called customer support and even they didn’t know about the Tvb settings and post codes.

And this z590 ftw splash screen is a bit of an eye sore

The beeps your hearing are routine and used for error troubleshooting before we had onboard leds with number codes, although you can still use them for such and get a more general error code where as the leds will give you a more accurate code closer to the actual cause. There is also a single beep thats just means you made it thru post and its handing off to O/S. Yes, your A0 code is normal at the end. Turning off the 590 splash may be doable, there should be a setting in the bios that lets you do that, but i havent dug thru your boards bios before though so i cant say for sure if it does. If you are not overclocking then TVB probably wont affect you much. The ratio clipping will auto lower cpu cores gettin hotter than it likes, so disabled is fine and the voltage optimization lets it auto raise lower your voltages for the vcore, which can be bad cause intel likes to overshoot the voltages a bit. You should enable both though if you want TVB to work correctly cause the voltage opt is dynamically changing the core voltages while reducing the speed of either each core or the whole cpu package, depending on your settings of course. Ok, i think i hit all your points and i hope that helps ya out.

Sorry, I was trying to help from mobile. My unsure-ness was about the TVB, so that's fair and I'd recommend listening to some other folks who seem to know more about that.

I can help, however with the beeps. There are many beeps, different beeps for different things. Without specifically hearing YOUR beeps, I cannot say with 100% certainty which ones you're referring to. For me, I was thrown off by about 5-6 short beeps before the final longer/louder beep (that one indicates POST is complete). The shorter ones sounded like it was trying to tell me something in Morse code. According to the manual, "A POST beep may indicate a successful POST or various tones for USB initialization, while other beeps may indicate an issue during the POST process. Please see Page 153 for more details." Those short beeps I was talking about were the USB initializations. I was able to confirm this by plugging and unplugging things and counting the beeps. I've never had a board that beeps at me like this before (a feature which can be turned off I think, but I've grown to think it is sort of adorable).

Last night, I heard a different set of beeps, the kind described on page 153 of the manual. These are longer, angrier beeps that happen after the USB initialization beeps. I had 5 of them and the code the indicator gave agrees with page 153: "No Console Output Device Detected". This was because I put in my brand-spankin-new 3080 ti in last night and tried to turn on resizable BAR (and CSM off). I skipped the step where I have to convert my legacy windows install to UEFI...and there's also an issue with these new GPUs where they don't output video during BIOS/post...there's a new vBIOS beta to try, but Precision X1 says I have to disable CSM to install vBIOS...so...I'm not sure how that's going to go, but I'm going to start with the Legacy-boot to UEFI conversion tonight and see how far we get after that.

    Wmmills,
So, both TVB settings should be enabled? ok, I'm not overclocking right now but it would still be nice to get the advertised 100mhz boost.
As for the splash screen... still searching for the setting.

    Nike,
thanks for the usb device beep description.  I confirmed that thats what mine is doing.  I luckily found out about needing csm off, uefi on/legacy bios off, and just did secure boot to get ready for the inevitable windows 11 install.

I got my Dark today,  I will swim around in the BIOS and take a look over next few days. I'd think evga bios between the two should be similar.

Something else I've noticed, no matter what I do it seems my cpu runs at 5.1 all cores but I cant get the two best cores to run at 5.3 or even a single core to run at 5.3.  I've got a 360 rad cooling the cpu and great airflow im well under 70C for single or dual core applications.  Any ideas at to what could be causing this or is it normal.

Heres a few pics of my setup.

I had this issue too! Turn off Intel ABT (advanced boost tech) in the BIOS Advanced CPU settings section. It is "boosting" to 5.1 all-core. If you set up a ratio OC and your temps are good, you can have it run 5.3 on a couple, 5.2 on a 3-4-threads, 5.1 on 5-8, or something like that, depending on temps. With adaptive voltage setting, it drops cores down to 800Hz at low usage, and cranks them up over 5GHz (5.3 sometimes, etc.) when needed.

as far as "no way" to chance splash screen.....    back in the day I used to download the BIOS and used some kind of inspector program to swap the mobo logo with a custom image.  I used to do prank ones for any friend that asked me to build them a rig too.  it wasn't hard to do.  but it involved modifying the BIOS file and reflashing.....

Ill dig around and try to see what that was called.

Thanks Nike, Ill play with the ABT,  (how many F'ing version of turbos can one chip have?)

    rblaes,
Yeah I dont know why they didnt give the option to disable the splash screen, or at least just make it black.
