Be specific. I'm looking ot add a fairly broad ammount of mods that are not overkill, but are....

1+ Great thread idea. I'd like mods for high-res (More like DX11), and other cool mods, but don't want anything unrealistic, and it seems that there are a ton of those mods...

Would you mind using the Skyrim Nexus? The Workshop is stingy with the files types you are allowed to upload which tends to put off some modders and they don't even bother to use it because so many other people use the Nexus. They've got their own mod manager as well.

Well here's a quick list I made using only the mods that I have installed (and it's not even close to half of my total mods) there are some really good ones out there I'm sure I could dig up too. First of all some mods may require Skyrim Script Extender or Script Dragon which allow for more script fidelity in mods (Workshop mods don't have these requirements) A Quality World Map (great map mod, has roads, removes clouds) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4929 Birds and Flocks (more flocks, I like seeing them around more often :P) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11555 Birds of Skyrim (birds around docks and in towns on the ground etc) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17723 Bucklers (Small shields for thieves or light warriors) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5315 Claralux (more light sources on roads) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17605 Crimson Tide (amazing blood/gore mod) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12798 Dynavision (dynamic depth of field) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12525 Enhanced Skyrim Night (self explanatory) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/85 Milky Way Galaxy (replaces Skyrim's generic galaxy with our own! Neat and it looks nice) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/810 Immersive iHUD (See stuff when you want to and hide it when you don't or remove it completely) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3222 JaySuS Swords (great weapon pack) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1002 Lore-Based loading screens (Skyrim's default ones get oooold quick) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21265 Natural Skyrim Rain (beautiful looking/sounding rain) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8395 Thinner/Repositioned Torch (Small but necessary I think, I used torches a lot) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6950 Nicer Snowflakes (no more falling cotton balls, different choices) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/296 Skyrim Flora Overhaul (Vurt is known for his vegetation mods in Morrowind and Oblivion for a reason..) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/141 SkyUI (the greatest and most necessary mod for Skyrim!) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863 Static Mesh Improvement Mod (updates models and fixes some textures) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8655 Unofficial Skyrim Patch (fixes stuff) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19 W.A.T.E.R (changes water and waterfalls to look amazing) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13268 IF YOU DON'T WANT W.A.T.E.R (some people say it causes problems because it changes so much of the world space, I've never had any, try Pure Waters: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1111 ) Weapons of the Third Era (another great weapon pack, I like it better than JaySuS) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12892 Wearable Lanterns (don't want to hold a torch or use a light spell? craft a lantern to attach to your belt!) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17416 I don't do many texture overhauls but these two will make dungeons look so much better. There's a lot of them in Skyrim and if you spend a lot of time dungeon crawling looking for treasure in every crack you might get disgusted at how blurry all the textures are. Re-Defined Dungeons http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3147 Ruins Clutter Improvement http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14227 I would recommend the "Sounds of Skyrim" mods but they're currently hidden by the author because his most recent large update caused some bugs he wants to fix. EDIT: Just adding some more as I think of them! Better Dynamic Snow (instead of being pure white, it has a little texture) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10383 Alternate Start (don't have to watch the cart scene every new character, but you can choose it as well as many other options) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9557 Bows by Artisanix (take a look at them if you plan on using bows) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15642/ http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15109 http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14693 http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14085 http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13520 Skyrim Distant Detail (less distant models disappearing) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12866

I personally use the Skyrim Total Enhancement Project. It's a compilation of mods (textures, UI, HUD, lighting, etc.) that takes forever to install (since you have to install each mod individually), but it makes your game look like this:

Oh yeah that does remind me of the ENB Series. That mod uses the FXAA injector RCNA ( I think that's what the acronym is didn't bother to actually look) ENB is a shader injector (that is totally legal to use, thousands do) It adds some of the most amazing real time detail to the game that you can get. I forgot to add it, I've just been playing a little without it because it does hit performance pretty hard depending on your settings. You can get the d3d9.dll file from the coder's website, he doesn't allow it on the nexus. http://enbdev.com/download_mod_tesskyrim.htm You can how ever get people's custom configs on the Nexus, there are many. These two are some of my favorites. Just look at those screen shots! These both use version 0.113 Countervibe Vibrant

kidcrumb Skyrim ENB series is good. (Its like the Life-like GTA4 mod but for Skyrim) If you're willing to tweak it, then it is the best choice when it comes to lighting/post processing mods. However, every preset ENB config I've seen has a very distinctive style to it, so if you're looking for presets it's hard to find one that suits you. I prefer RCRN for this reason, I'm too lazy to make my own ENB config. RCRN has a more Earth-like appearance, while preset ENB configs have an overdone fantasy look to them. Whatever floats your boat.

Chrome-M-Dragon Wow, That's a lot to start with....Thanks a ton guys! There is way more than that but those are in my opinion the most lore mods for skyrim (Well most of them) that I downloaded. You can find a lot of un lore (If thats a word) mods that are pretty awesome. If you check every week the steam workshop or skyrim nexus from week to week. The top mods are usually pretty good and worth a download. Also don't download every mod all at once and then try to start the game you mioght crash and then it will take forever to find out why. Download a few then start the game and see if it is fine then download a few more that way if you do get a CTD as sometimes skyrim cant handle so many mods or there are conflicts you can remove ony by one and see what the cause of the problem is. Edit: Awesome I see a blue ribbon under my name . How did I get it and another question does it have a purpose or just looks cool?

You got the BR because your post was most helpul and full of information pertaining to my OP. Also it is worth 2 EVGA bucks which can be used towards your next purchase here at EVGA (but only here of course) hey do add up and do not expire. You can use as little or as much as you like as well. Back to the topic. Has there been ANYTHING to fix the flying objects of death? I have been at very low health and was killed by a loaf of bread that shot across the room because the items are all possesed by demons.

willem445 Most of my mods for Skyrim are against TOS LOL same here other then that I just use the FXAA injector mod to make the game look sharper bethesda's official texture pack (since I like it better then Skyrim 2K HD), Sounds of skyrim for both Wild and Dungeons, Better looking Waterfalls. Better world map with roads better sun I'm sure I could spend weeks and weeks trying different mods but this is fine for me at least.

Here are a few that I use that haven't been mentioned. Rayek's End - Mini Hideout A simple house mod that has a unique feel and atmosphere to it. It isn't big and doesn't have a huge trophy room like many do. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16028 Dark Scout Armor A set of armor and weapons that are geared towards a ranger type character. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14805 Andragorn's Armoury Adds new weapons (of all types) to Skyrim that can be found in loot, crafted at forges and bought at a smith that is added to the game. The weapons are well balanced for gameplay. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10135 Spend Dragon Souls for Perks Allows you to spend dragon souls to unlock perks w/o having to level up. But you still have to meet the skill level requirements to get the perk and you need 1 soul for every ten levels needed to unlock the perk. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11623 Bat Travel Vampire Power for Dawnguard DLC Makes fast travel to cities (you can also set custom locations) more lore friendly than just clicking on the icon on the map. You obviously have to have Dawnguard and be a vampire. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21689 These a just a few that I use. I use many of the mods already listed by others and plan to try out others. Great idea for a thread I've been wondering what mods some of you use on here.

Well then the evga bucks are useless to me wish I could give them to someone. Shipping costs like $40 to canada directly from evga :(.. Btw if you tell us which mods you like from what was provided I can give you more mods that are similar and may interest you as right now I just gave you the best from each category imo. And would you have dawngaurd or not as currently many mods are made for dawngaurd since its release And why fix the flying objects of death I feel it makes skyrim more enjoyable . Also if we can get the community to vote on what mods they like best maybe an article on evga gaming can be made showcasing the best mods from each category so more people can get involved in the modding community (Not necessarily actual modding but encouragements to modders help bring more mods)
