So I updated directx on microsoft website, when I launch bc2 there's no option for directx 11.  When I go into dxdiag it says directx 10..  Shouldnt it say direct x 11?  I have a evga 470 gtx installed.  Please advise.

First make sure you have all the latest Windows updates.

You can also force DX11 by going into Documents/BFBC2/settings.ini

    and change dxlevel to:

    dxlevel=11

The detection and usage of DX9/DX10/DX11 is done automatically, the game selects the highest possible version available with your graphics card and OS. If you want to force a given path you can do that in the Settings.ini file by setting 'DxVersion' to any of these options: 9, 10, 11 or auto (default). The Settings.ini file can be found in My Documents\BFBC2 directory.

If you have slow loading times in multi, just force dx10.  It will load in a few seconds compared to minutes.  I have the same card as you and I am running dx10 with BC2.  There isn't much difference graphically between the two that I can tell in the game.

For those running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, this driver from Intel will give you a boost on your load times (these work to those that are using ACHI on their HDD).  It worked on my end.

Choose the Intel Rapi Storage driver dated 3/23/10

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Thank you everyone for your reply's.  I must be on directx 10 cause there is no load time what so ever.  Does it clearly show/demonstrate Directx 11 in "dxdiag" for you guys?  It says only 10 for me.  I have all the current updates from microsoft, but it appears its not recognizing mine OS as 11.  Can anyone tell me why?  And I guess the auto on 11 isnt working for me either with bfbc2..  :(

    For DX11 - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

As to your ping problem it's because you're not running BF BC2 with administrator privilages.

I see, when I installed it it didn't give me a quick launch icon and it didn't load into my start menu just like always with vista 64...  I just double click on the disc to launch.  Ill look for the launch icon in the sys folder and use that.  Again theres no icon to launch in dx 11 like say crysis, theres one for dx 9 and one for dx 10

Thanks for your help guys, when I get home I'll try to use the dx link, crazy to think I missed it when I did the direct x web installer at microsoft.

Why you think I should use 10 and not 11?  11 is the reason I got it and the card.. Is there really no difference?

Did you delete all of your previous drivers.  Also using driver sweeper in safe mode?
This game is not much better with dx11.  That doesn't mean other game aren't and future games will be better.

Yeah, I did bud.  Used driver sweeper in safe mode standard..  I forced direct x 11 though the ini file, but when it loads a game there's not any long loading times..

Yeah it says direct x 10 still in dxdiag.  Should I reinstall the driver?  Is that what brings up the dx 11?  When I go to auto updates for window theirs 11 Recommended updates, could dx11 be in one of these? Theres no important updates..

He has no DX11 because Windows Vista does not support DX11 until recently. Update your vista with windows update.

    Problem solved.

Thanks for that link man, yeah I'm getting the same challenge.  It says directx 10 and not 11 in dxdiag.  And under driver section im getting 10.1 under DDI.

And Ive installed every important auto update for windows and Im still having this problem.

Others with this problem are reporting slow downs or stuttering.  And I have to admit BFBC2 has not been running as smooth as other reviews on the web with pc's clocked slower than mine...  I hope tonight when I get a chance I can fix this problem, I dont want to have to do a reformat!

Ill check all this out when I get home, hope fully I can fix it because I got to be honost, BFBC2 in dx11 (which I have it forced in ini file) isnt all what its cracke up to be.  im not getting the performace as others report and the gfx are definately nothing groud breaking like others are stating.
