Very interesting archaeological find. Production of electricity (artificially) hundreds of years ago.

I first heard of this probably about 10 years ago. Amazing that they had this technology so long ago.

I dont think they knew they were making electricity per say. They probably used it to produce heat to light fires or for the smithing thing the article says. Its not like they had lightbulbs.

There was also a theory that it was used for religious purposes.

It is quite intriguing, but there is not many ways we can prove they used it as a battery.  It is also stated that it could have been used to hold scrolls ect.

One of the more interesting aspects of the elongated electricity jar are the 4 "tablets" the jar adjoins or lays onto.

They are similar to the tablets found in one of the pyramids but im struggling to find the location and what they are called. I have looked for about 40 minutes but given the rubbish on the internet related to pyramids it makes it hard to find. They are said to be made of different metals and cabable of creating an electric current.

honestly i don't find it hard to believe they made "Flashlights" of sorts as torches wouldn't work tooo well in the pyramids

If you take the time to study you will find this one find isn't alone for things we once thought impossible. We have found many devices dating back to the 2nd and 1st dynasty time period of egypt or about 8000 years, before we had written records that have survived of advanced technology for the time period, some of it wouldn't be rediscovered for thousands of years. There was some sort of global catastrophe that quite literly sent mankind back thousands of years into a dark age. It makes you wonder what these ancient civilizations really looked like, what has been lost to time in the ruins over the millenia.

Granted this battery is somewhat new, there are akline devices discovered in egypt dating back to 8000BC, along with the hittite and minoan cultures. It gives credence to the idea of Atlantis, not as a city of course but as an idea.

Those light bulb like structures look like zucchini ot me... >_> Also the base of them suggest them being a plant.

Also There are a few different old uses for batteries, Even if you string enough together you can get quite a bit of power. Who is to say they had or didn't have a good use for it until something else is found, heck just get a lot of copper wire and you can make a motor.
