So I ordered a blackplate for my GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0 and it does not match up to my board at all. When I bought it I looked at the back of my card and saw a sticker that gives the model number of my card as 04G-P4-3979-KB, so I ordered the appropriate backplate from Newegg. Upon receiving the backplate and trying to match it up to my card, it didn't fit, didn't match up... not even close. Then I noticed that printed on the PCB it says my card model is ACTUALLY 04G-P4-3979-B6.... I don't understand why a large sticker with a part number would be put onto a PCB it doesn't even come close to matching up to... Is there even a backplate for 04G-P4-3979-B6??? I feel like I threw my money away with this backplate...

The B6 shouldn't make a diffrience as that has to do with the retailer of purchase. But you may want to look at the packing slip from Newegg and make sure that you purchased part number 100-BP-0972-B9, the last two last numbers can be something else as it doesn't really matter. If you did, then I'm not really sure, but I'm thinking you may of bought a diffrient part number. EDIT: I got the wrong part number.

Okay on paper EVGA package, it says part number 100-BP-3973-B9... Here is a picture of my plate, and I have edited it to show where it doesn't match up. Mine doesn't have a screw on PCB on upper left circle area, my gpu heatsink mounts are further out than the holes on the plate, and the whole plate is like 1/2in longer than my card (line on right).

Just to clarify, here are the two stickers I found on card, each with a different model number...

There are only 2 back plates for compatible 970's, seeing as how the one you got does not fit (and only lists one cards model number as being compatible: 04G-P4-3975-KR) the other one has to be it.

Another question before I re-order, my PN ends with KB, is the KR the same?

They are not the same. KR is the back plate you have that it is for the KR based model GPU ( http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=04G-P4-3975-KR) But yours clearly shows it's the KB model, which is listed under the compatibility of the other back plate that I posted to you. I actually installed one of those onto a reference design 970 that was not under the compatible list (the one I suggested to you via links) since no one had an answer for me, I took a swung and got one anyway, and only 2 screw holes aligned, but it was still on tight regardless:

They are the same, please buy 100-BP-0972-B9 or you will likely go through an replacment/refund again. Also, the reason you have two 'prefixes' on diffrient stickers is because it's a recertified card.
