Hi all

A good friend of mine from Greece needs a new VGA card and here @ EVGA Europe I found him this GTX 480 in B-Stock, we know it says the following:

"B-Stock Products do not come with any accessories and include a 90 day limited warranty."

But what does this mean, is it that these are refurbished products or are the new products left over from an old stock or are they products that were fixed from repairs and declined from users?

So far I have not found out what they really are and my friend wants to know what he is buying before he makes this move.

Many thanks

I believe they are refurbished products from users sending them in and back to Evga standards of working condition. Hence no accessories come with the bstock and limited 3 month warranty.

Hmm oke, well that does not have to mean the products are bad right?

He is using an ATi Radeon HD 5770 and an EVGA GTX 480 would be a very nice upgrade for his situation.

Ssince the GTX 480 is still the 3rd most powerful graphics chip on the market, which is lead by the HD 7970 on place 01 & GTX 580 on Place 02.

The GTX 480 B-Stock seemed a very neat upgrade and it's faster than a GTX 560 Ti since 480 CUDA Cores is lots more than 384 CUDA Cores then it has a faster ram interface 384Bit GDDR5 versus 256 Bit GDDR5, thus all in all the GTX 480 is the card to get for him.

His budget is under 200 euro's also, so yeah I am really hoping that these B-Stock products are of good quality and very worth buying.

Everything I've purchased from b-stock has worked fantastically. Also, they carry a 30-day warranty.

They can be a product sent in for RMA that passed testing, a product sent in for Step-Up, or a card that had a component replaced. It is essentially from the same stock that would be used for warranty replacement, which continue the warranties of the original product but these come with 90 day warranties and are sold at a discount.

If you live in USA I'd do that too but he lives in Athens, Greece so buying something from USA will bring high Insurance costs, high Shipping costs and high Custom taxes, so all in all that will end up around 300 euro's minimum. 300 Euro's = also more than 300 USD stand alone ...

300 EUR = 393 USD, so that is not going to make it worth while doing, for that money it would cost him way too much.

I just have to say, the one time I got a B-stock product, which was a 750i motherboard i think? Died within 3 months of buying it, out of warranty, out of luck. So as for me, I don't like b-stock things. lol I would recommend finding it new somewhere..., the warranty is just too short

I wait for kepler. Maybe some of the midrange kepler cards has same performance as the 480 but with lower power consumption.

I believe they are refurbished products from users sending them in and back to Evga standards of working condition. Hence no accessories come with the bstock and limited 3 month warranty.

yes, that pretty much sums it up. alot of them are perfectly good cards that were traded up for the step-up program. there are others that are rma returns but they are repaired and go through evga testing to make sure their working correctly. your friend has nothing to worry about when selecting a evga b-stock card, but if he is that doubtful just tell him to save his pennies and buy new.

Ahh many thanks for this reply he made up his mind and yes he is going for that B-Stock GTX 480, it's also for an old Core i7 setup not core 2 Quad rofl, I'm  Dual Opteron nerd how could I know right hahaha

So yeah for that system, a GTX 480 is a very sweet upgrade, anything is better than that ATi HD 5770 which he really wants to step away from

He also plans to become a member of this forum as Hawkins I believe and he will surely make a post of his tuned up rig, anyways he thanks everyone for helping him out via me in this topic
Hereby I also thank everyone for posting so quickly!

Hello from me too. :) I am the friend Gold Leader is talking about. Well, my original concern was that the 480 is totally vanished from the greek market, and then I come to the source here on EVGA, only to see that in Europe the product is no longer available, other than B-stock. I would go for the new one priced at €229 but, poof. Not there. Hence my original concern about B-stock. However if B-stock hardware is sought to working condition then I guess I have nothing to worry about. It is cheaper too.

GL, you have confused my systems again m8, it's a core i7 setup on which I wish to replace the HD5770. My Core 2 Quad setup has an HD4870 and is all good.

EDIT: as for going for a new 580, besides being off-budget by too much, the i7 system I got is about a year old, and wish to use contemporary hardware for it. The 480 suits me because at the same time it's top of the line for it's time.

There are new ones in stock in Europe at the lower price. It may take a bit longer to show up in Greece but they have been available in the bigger EU markets for 1-2 weeks now.
