BIOS 1.12 (E698 CLASSIFIED)

  • Fixes Non-K CPU default turbo issue
  • Fixes WHEA error issue
  • Improves memory OC ability for dual-rank modules

Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
         121-AL-E699-KR - EVGA Z690 DARK K|NGP|N - v1.12
         121-AL-E698-KR - EVGA Z690 CLASSIFIED - v1.12
  • First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat

BIOS Installation
  • Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
  • Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
  • From the BIOS, navigate to the EXTRAS tab at the upper left and click on "BIOS Update"

What was the whea error issue? I was getting pcie whea errors after installing 3090 ti kingpin but removing the riser seems to have fixed it but I haven't done much testing.

I’d like to know as well. I’ve got a few Z690 systems and have experienced far greater WHEA errors using this platform than any previous one. The Asus boards I have were spitting out thousands of WHEA errors at a time, and the consensus on forums I came across is that it’s caused by ASPM settings. Disabling ASPM in the BIOS as well as in Windows stops the errors, but that can cause increased energy usage as well as heat. Another thing I’ve seen cause a WHEA error using Z690 and DDR5 memory is simply enabling or disabling the RAM’s XMP profile. Windows (10 and 11) can get tripped up over that for some reason. Regardless, I’m curious what WHEA errors this update corrects.

The whea was not related to pcie slots but instead to sata (have board that was affected by the issue and the bus points directly to a sata controller)

Every so often you'll see a motherboard from us or other brands start generating tons of WHEA errors in WDM, even though there's apparently no performance or stability issues.  Sometimes it's just an issue with a device and Windows miscommunicating and propagating these errors.  If you look at a couple threads in this section, you'll see a couple members having this issue.  Updating the BIOS fixes this issue, and the WHEA errors stop being reported.

I identified an issue with the newest BIOS 1.12 - all cores of my 12900K will noch clock higher as 4900/3700 MHz.
    All cores 4900MHz / 3700MHz

If I install the BIOS 1.10 I got the following result:
    Cores up to 5200MHz / 3900MHz:

Maybe it's due to this modification?

Yes same here as we are nearing the availability of the new 13th generation MB's and CPU's. Assuming that some may want to step-up from Alder Lake? Of course the question remaining in how many real life extra 'performance points' will Raptor Lake offer us to making it worth while for such a $$$ jump and in times like these? Moreover I would think that many will wait for the break of the 14th season which should offer a much bigger technological improvement and bang for the buck and reason to support an upgrade. Thoughts?

I just noticed with 1.12 that my 12900K cores never go above 4.9/3.7, so I decided to try 1.10. Still seeing both core types capped at those speeds, which is odd. There’s definitely something amiss. As the Z690 Classified is my first EVGA motherboard, and with having used it for just under a week, an issue like this right out of the gate is disappointing. I know my 12900K is capable of boosting higher at stock settings since I’ve observed it doing so with several other Z690 motherboards. Anyway, I’m going to dig around the BIOS to see if I can spot anything out of the ordinary. Otherwise, I hope the EVGA motherboard team can figure out what’s up.

I've got a new development. Using BIOS 1.10, my system did a hard shutdown while loading 3DMark, then powered itself back on. It happened during the "Scanning SystemInfo.............." phase of loading the software. I checked the Windows event viewer and sure enough there was a single Kernel-WHEA 20 error. So, I flipped the switch on my Classified board to swap back over to 1.12 since I haven't had any issues with that version other than my 12900K not boosting to its rated speeds. Not sure what's going on exactly, but this is a new one for me.

Good catch.  The team was able to reproduce the issue and will provide a new BIOS SOON(TM).

I don't know how or why, but disabling C1 in the BIOS enables the cores to boost up to 5.2/3.9 using BIOS version 1.12. Maybe this will help the motherboard team in correcting the problem, if they aren't aware of it already.

Do you know if secured richtek pmic's allow for voltage beyond 1.435? I was eyeing testing the new Teamgroup elite kits (5600) ones and believe that is the pmic it uses, will probably buy a stick to test.

I would imagine those can do higher voltage as it seems only renesas pmic is truely locked down.
