The RGBz is everywhere so you know you have to have it in your pump as well. The D5 NEXT is a new development based mechanically on the proven Laing D5 pump with highly advanced electronics and a wide range of functions. In addition to LEDs already integrated into the pump, a maximum of 64 individually controllable digital LEDs can be connected. These can be used, for example, to visualize CPU load, speeds, temperatures, flow and other measured values. The effects can be arranged and configured in a way similar to a video editing program. So lighting for this can serve a purpose and just for lighting display fun.

It is nice looking, but is this not the company you have to pay them every year to use their software?

Has a lot of cool features if you want the RGB function. The price is a bit higher than I would expect. 119 EURO/ 135 USD. But I guess that's expected with the extra's. Hope they don't charge for the software, like has been reported.

    Umm, ok.

The company has nice products, but I don't trust them nor their proprietary software control.

This is a great price for a pump that has the capabilities of a built-in water temp sensor, virtual flow sensor, a single PWM fan channel up to 25w worth of fans which you could pretty much control all your rad fans with, new independent RGB controls and or be used with the Aquaero controller via Aquabus OR as a standalone unit that works with the Aquasuite software via USB and last but not least, comes with a OLED display.  That doesn't even include the innovative ways you can remove this pump during maintenance, etc.  This looks to be an amazing AIO pump and you won't find anything like this in the market place.  I'm surprised it isn't going for more tbh.  lol

There's a misconception about the whole charging on the software.  You don't have to pay for software if you're already using the existing version that came with your product.  They come out annually with new software with newer features.  If your license runs out, you'll have to pay a once time fee for 1 year or 2 years of free updates/features of those year's revisions.  You could stay on the older ones no problem and not pay a thing.  When you usually buy a product, it usually comes with a free license for that year's revision and can use it as long as you want.  If you want the new software in 3 or 4 years from now, you'll need to buy a license.

One example with this year's 2018 software, you can use NZXT or Corsair fans and control their independent LEDs with the right Aquacomputer gear but it can be costly but still done.  That could cost AC a licensing fee to get that feature into their software for example and have really cool mobile connectivity which I'm sure they're hosting the data so you can see through your phone.

It's not as cut and dry as some think and trust me, I was animated in the begging as well until I realized some of the things they do can be pretty costly so they needed to find a way to create revenue for that.  All good here.

Now to reiterate since there still seems to be some confusion going around.

    • Every newly purchased device that is supported by the aquasuite software comes with a license for at least two major version. This includes all intermediate versions of course.
    • The license does not expire, so there is no need to spend additional funds to use the device or software. This is not a subscription!

    Hope that clarifies everything.

P.S. - I don't work for AC but wouldn't mind their New D5 though. lol

Ok, fair enough. But, is their software good? In general, I don't like software. If I bought the pump, I would like the pump to have a microcontroller and flash memory and display on the LCD without needing the software running. Is that possible? Or does the software need to always be running in order for the data to show and for the LEDs to work and for whatever else to do whatever it does? If you can open the software once, set your colors, choose units of measurement, close the software, never use it again, that would be perfect.

That's a good question.  I know with the Aquaero 6 controller that I use also works as a standalone without the software if I wanted to as I could use it's own remote and on screen display to configure everything but the problem is, it's a pain to do but on the software end, I could set everything up and save it on the on board memory of the controller.  With that said, I'm not 100% sure with the D5 NEXT but I wouldn't be surprised if you could but I will ask the staff for you if you'd like and see what they say.

Aquacomputer got back to me and said:

The pump works autonomous of course! There is no need at all to use the software.   Having autonomous working devices is a key feature for us.

    Hope that clears things up.

I don't like, she is interesting for RGB fans...
My back up D5 Pump will be this.
    https://www.dazmode.com/store/shop/watercooling/d5-vario-8-24v-pump-wtach-cable-option-mcp655-and-etc/

If someone could find Swiftech MCP655 w Speed Controller old type before 2009 made, that's from original Laing factory.
Newegg sell MCP655 and if model is same as on their picture that's before 2009 I think.

    I don't know why ask 126$.
But maybe you get newest MCP655 with Speed Controller, not type same as on picture.

I should earlier to enter in watercooling world.
Now can't imagine self with air or AIO.

Aquacomputer Aqualis reservoir and DDC is nice example and I will buy their KryoM.2 cooler for SSD because no logo and it's aluminium, clean, nice.
But for watercooling parts I want to avoid these complicate things like D5 Next.
