My question to those that are using the 2-slot bracket with the FTW3: does the card sag more than with the original 3 slot bracket?

I think most people using the 2 slot bracket have removed the air cooler and replaced it with a water block.

I’d imagine it doesn’t sag as much with a water block installed.

Is it possible to use the 2-slot bracket with the original air cooler? This is of interest to me since I have an itx case with 2 slots only.

How do you plan to fit a 3-slot cooler into a 2-slot case?

I think that you would be able to install the 2-slot bracket with the 3-slot heatsink (after some modification of the 2-slot bracket), but why?

The top top 3 screw holes would simply be unused, but it should fit as long as the top lip of the 2-slot bracket doesn't interfere with the cooler (right below where the 3 unused screw holes would be in the heatsink shroud).  But, I am almost positive that the top lip of the 2-slot bracket will interfere with the clear plastic shroud of the 3-slot cooler, so I do not think it will fit until you cut that top lip off.  The (probably) offending lip:

I have the 2 slot bracket. I decided not to use it when I put my waterblock on so I checked. ty_ger07 is a 100% correct. You can not use the 2 slot bracket with out several issues.

For one the three outer most screws attach to a bracket coming from the heat spreader for the memory and power. Not only would it no longer be secure. You would be bending the bracket and twisting the card at the same time.

If you have room, just check if you can get a slot bracket to fit next to your last open slot, also make sure you have room for the card to get air. If it does, then you are worried for nothing. If you cant, then you really don't have room for this card. Other 2080 TI's may be a better fix in that case.

My current case is a Fractal Design Nano S. With a SFX power supply, you have enough room for a GPU up to 3 slots thick as long as it has only 2 pcie wide bracket. I did not realize that there is a lip on the 2-slot bracket, but I can see why this might make it cooler shroud incompatible. Can someone from EVGA support confirm whether or not the 2-slot bracket works with the FTW3 cooler without modification?

Thanks for letting me know, I found a picture of the bracket here: https://youtu.be/U5XKtobx7ro?t=160
It does seem that bracket can be removed, but not sure what that would do to the structural integrity of the card.

You can use the two slot cooler with the FTW3 ultra, but I do not personally suggest it with horizaontally mounted cards, only vertical.. EVGA shows that there is a support bracket that can be removed so that the card can only utilize two slots. The it attached to the mid plate, so the entire card must be taken apart to get to the bracket.

You risk sag if you mount the card traditionally. If you mount it vertically, sag wouldn’t really be an issue.

Once the support bracket is removed, the lip on the 2 slot bracket is no longer an issue.

Many thanks for the photos, this is exactly what I need to know. So if I really want to use this card with my Nano S Case, I should flip the case on its side. Hmmmm, I need to think a bit more whether to get the FTW3.

I assume this also applies to the XC Ultra correct?

Only worry I have after looking at your case is these cards are long, tall, bulky and warm. It looks to me that if you do manage to get it to fit, your fans are going to be blocked by your power supply.  You may want to wait on the water cooled version if your hearts set on the FTW.

Ugh, wish I saw this thread before I bought a riser cable and the 2 slot bracket.  My View 71 will only take a 2 slot bracket, which I knew, but I didn't think the card has to be torn down so much to put the 2 slot bracket on.

If you have a dremel, you could cut the offending lip off of the 2-slot bracket instead of taking the card apart. Modifying the 2-slot bracket won't affect your warranty since it is an accessory which didn't come with your video card.

Do you mind taking a picture of how your card is mounted, specially the area around the bracket? Thanks.

I also purchased this 2-slot bracket and the 2080 Ti XC Ultra, with the intent to use the stock cooler. (The chassis has width for 3-slot but not a 3-slot bracket.)

So I ended up using a vice to flatten the lip, now it fits perfectly and no modification needed to the actual video card. Have it mounted vertically, so no weight support issues.

Nice!  I had mine in a vice, but I was trying to bend it.  That didn't work well, so I cut the lip off.  Mine is mounted vertically as well.

It took me a good 15 minutes to bend it with pliers, I put it in a razer core x, which doesn't allow you to screw in the pcie slot screw with the 3 slot bracket :(
It does sit fine without the screw, but I really didn't like it.
also I got the shield, and that rubs against the side of the core x; you have to coax it in.

I too would like to see how this turned out.
I've got the 2070 XC Ultra and was thinking about vertical mounting it if possible with the 2 slot bracket and cablemods kit.

Dang id love to mount my $1249 dollar gpu vertically and show it off in my $500 computer. But not sure I want to be hacking away at it to do so. Surely someone has released a 3 slot vertical mount by now?? Right?
