Be Amicable and Make New Friends Also Count Down to Start.
Start time    2017-03-01 00:00 UTC
End time     2017-03-06 00:00 UTC

They are now allowing bunkering so users who bunker now is the time to download.

TEAM CHALLENGE starts soon!
The first team challenge starts on March 1st, so I've temporarily increased task-in-progress limits: it's 4 tasks per CPU core + 100 tasks per GPU now. You can use the time left before the challenge to bunker more tasks.
28 Feb 2017, 7:02:40 UTC   Discuss Over on Amicable

Challenge Status Page on (Amicable Numbers Website)

BAM! Should show up after the first 24 hours.

I'll fire up some tasks when I get home from work today and PrimeGrid is all wrapped up.

My bunkers aren't uploading and I'm not getting any tasks on my 2 970 rig. Oh well there's always folding to do if it doesn't fix itself.

Part of why I do not like Bunkering.
Some users and teams with heavy hardware get all the to project tasks and puts a big burden on the Program the network and so on.

Major amazon S3 outage probably to blame.

They might be using AWS on the backend. That's the new trend. Put the storage in S3 to save money on hardware in house. If it was intermittent today only, then the 3 hours of alm9st complete failure of the S3 system might be the reason. For whatever reason, the fail overs didn't appear to work correctly as the load should have shifted away from the down systems.

lol. yeah i saw that. I have always hating the bunkering. For people who go challenge to challenge its just unfair. There are no 2 ways about it, start date end date. At least primegrid gets it.

For CPU tasks, the more cores you throw at it, the faster it completes.
Tried 30 cores on my E5-2670s and it is completing tasks almost as fast as GPUs (credit seems to be the same for all tasks).

On the other hand, this project is not being very "amicable" when trying to run other projects alongside MC CPU tasks...

Yea, that is why I am not in this one or any Challenges SETI.USA sets up.
Computers hidden for SETI.USA is the norm for them an trying to compete is pointless.
I will save the cost for our In Team Challenges and events.

I got 16 cores on my  e5-2680 (HT off) finishing a project @ under 24 min. 970gtx SSC @ 22 min and 1050ti SSC @ 30 min. So letting it run on as many cores as possible looks like the best bet for fastest restults.

I had a hard time nailing down actual CPU time since I was trying different core counts yesterday.
devlin: I do see that besides some shorter tasks, 16+ cores are finishing some tasks faster than my 970FTW+ and 1060FTW.

I have been running this project for a short while and I am getting over 500,000 a day on 4 gpus. I guess I could run cpu and gpu and I have 2 more gpus I can add to the mix.

Great seeing you guys participating!!!  I really thought it was going to just be a few of us.

ps No bunkering from me. I have never bunkered for a project. I have downloaded a few days of work units and turned of internet access to Boinc in the middle of a challenge. Just messing with Boinc.

Interesting.. I turned off HT to see what numbers I get... Still showing 24 CPUs.  Everything else is telling me 12.. (12 should be correct)..

Also.. 500,000... wow!    That SETI @ 20Mil.. is kinda BS :\

Amicable (and any other project with MT work units) will download work and assign a certain number of cores for it. If you change the core count later, that number does not change with the client settings. Only new work units downloaded later. The question is whether BOINC is actually allowing the work units to continue crunching after you told it you had less. And whether task manager shows them in use.

Looks like we are holding a steady 7th place with our 12 man team!

Maybe if we can get a few more on board we can take the 36 member Team Francophone at the number 6 position.

I put more resources on it and got 920,000 on the board yesterday! woot
