I was putting together my new Z87 Classified setup this morning and realized I was going to have to push the memory out to slots 3 & 4 just to mount the NH-D14 body itself, not even including the fan. Anyone have a suggestion for a comparable cooler? Or was my original mistake going with Corsair Dominator Platinum memory.

I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and Noctua NF-P12 cooling it. I have only mem slots 2 and 4 filled with total of 16 gig on my Z87 FTW. If I had all four mem slots filled it would not work because fan almost covers #1 mem slot. Excellent cooling in my opinion. 20*C idle 60*C under load.

Wish I realized the Noctua NH-U14S were that big before I bought them... I did my research and read a lot of good reviews on it.

The prolimatech mega fits on my z87 FTW using 2x Noctua NF-12 PWN fans with my 4 sticks of hyper x blue. I had to put ram in then get the fans on for it to fit. Was a little tricky to get the fan clip on but I had the motherboard tray out of case so it was doable.

I ended up playing Frankenstein with my NH-D14 and am really enjoying the results. I used a dremel tool to cut off the teeth plus 1/8" on the bottom three fins facing the memory slots. It wouldn't make any sense to buy a new cooler since this is my first upgrade since my EVGA 680i forever and a day ago and I don't need an extra $90 CPU cooler laying around collecting dust. Running the i7-4770K at stock speeds with Prime95 using small FFTs I'm seeing 51C and when overclocked to 4.2GHZ running Prime95 I'm seeing 60C. After letting that burn in awhile we'll see where it goes from there.

No problem at all. I set the RPMs for 15,000 and it sliced through them pretty easy. I used a small file to clean up the edges afterward and blew everything out with an air compressor.
