I have lots of problems with a PCIe sound card, so I am used to installing Windows 7 64 from scratch, and to set up RAID.. :-/
I want to back up my Windows, and use Acronis True Image. I can do this just fine from inside Windows, but when it is time to restore any image, I must boot using Acronis Bootable Media.
However, it does not find my RAID drive(s)! I have used RAID0, and the Intel chipset. The Acronis Bootable Media utility is a Linux app as far as I know. Anyhow, here is the message I get:

Do you know what this means? I take this as an indicator that something is wrong. Although there are other disk backup utilities out there. I tried Drive Image, and this apps sees all my four harddisks as sepoarate drives, although they are set up as two RAID0 drives.
Any help much appreciated

Could I recommend that you create a "bootable rescue media" for your Acronis True Image? While there are two versions, I recommend you create the WinPE version. This is the version that installs the CD version of True Image in a Windows environment. I have no experience with your specific issues and cannot guarantee this will solve your problem. But this is the method I discovered and tested to give me full access of all storage drives on the SR-2 in the event of boot failure. I have SSD and HDD but none are in Raid configuration.

The downside of my recommendation is that the WinPE version requires a few more steps to create than the standard version of the rescue media.  Also I recalled that I had to download something from Microsoft. But Acronis provides all the necessary information.

Finally, I should add that I am using True Image 2011 with the plus pack. You need to check whether everything I described above is also applicable to your version of True Image.

    Switchable single-dual CPU rig
Mobo: EVGA SR-2 w/ BIOS A46 or A49 & Windows 7 (64-bit edition). CPU: Xeon 5620 @2.40-2.66 GHz (single mode) & @3.3-3.5 GHz (dual mode), air cooled by Intel BXSTS100C heat sink. Memory: 12x1 GB Kingston Triple Channel 1.5-V DDR3 @ 1066 MHz with 7-7-7-20 timing. Video card: MSI GTX 460. PSU: 950-Watt ABS Majesty 80 Plus Certified Gold. Disks: OCZ Vertex2 & WD Black 1 TB. Case: Home-made from wood & aluminum mesh with mobo mounted on MountainMod tray. Comment: Every watt saved reduces the electricity bill & need for additional cooling solutions

Thanks for this advice! I think this would solve the Acronis problem in particular. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that the error messages I get here indicate a possible source for my main problem: The PCIe sound card making my system freeze after booting into Windows.
So, if anyone know what these messages really means, I would be interested to know. "ddf1: wrong # of devices in RAID set" seems to be a message Linux users get when installing Ubuntu. Acronis Bootable Media is a Linux app (AFAIK) , the error message must mean that something is not quite right with my setup (my BIOS)
Besides of this, the Drive Image app does see my drives. I will try this first, then your suggestion.

You need the Plus pack to restore from RAID drives.

I dropped Acronis. The Plus Pack alone won't do it. You need to download 1 Gb or more from Microsoft (Windows PE) and then do some additional work on you PC, in order to build a bootable DVD (not CD) that will see the RAID drives.
Instead I purchased Norton Ghost, which will do all this out of the box. I have already used it, and it work great, on a bootable CD (not DVD). I now have 3 tools for this, Norton, Acronis and DriveImage. The latter is a light weight tool, it does see my drives, unfortunately it sees my RAID0 setup as two separate physical drives, so it cannot be used in this particular case. So - each tool to each purpose, that's the rule :)

I stopped using Acronis even though current with them, and used Paragon HD Mgr 2011.

That is odd, Plus Pack worked for me... oh well, I am not a fan of software that presumes RAID  = corporate = higher margin customer.

Actually, I did purchase the Plus Pack.
    It says:
"Download and install one of the following Windows Automated Installation Kits (AIKs)"
Which mounts to more than 1 Gb of data.
So I bailed out, and got Norton Ghost. Acronis has a 30 days money back warranty, which I will exercise
I cannot understand how the Plus Pack worked for you out of the box, if you used it on a bootable CD/DVD and was working with RAID0 drives.
