ASUS looks set to release a second graphics card featuring a Noctua cooling solution nearly a year after the two companies announced the ASUS x Noctua GeForce RTX 3070. This new card features the GA102-based 10 GB version of the RTX 3080 instead of the newer 12 GB version launched in January. The quad-slot cooling solution present on the card is very similar to the existing configuration with dual 120 mm Noctua fans and a slightly modified backplate. The card features dual 8-pin power connectors in addition to non-standard display outputs with 3x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.1. The ASUS x Noctua GeForce RTX 3080 is expected to launch soon and retail for 1150 EUR which is 250 EUR more then the existing ASUS x Noctua GeForce RTX 3070.

I am curious if the Noctua fans provide a much quieter cooling solution.

I would also want to know how those fans run since Noctua is a great fan company with the iconic color. It would be great to hear how much the noise could be reduced or the cooling improved in partnering with them as I have to say it's not the prettiest of cards. Not to say I don't like the Noctua color but if it's not going to look pretty it really needs to have a reason to exist that makes up for it as if performance is the same I would pick something that I would show off.

So, I'm a bit confused on the premise of pushing Noctua themed cards. One would think the design of heatpipe cooler would be more important than the fan blowing on it? One needn't brand a card Noctua to get silent fans or maybe high static pressure fans? I'm missing the point. Maybe it's being marketed to those who already have the only a mother would love because they're so ugly colored fans in their system? I still don't know why the dual brown themed fans are still a thing when Noctua also makes regular black colored fans?

It's always impressed me just how tone deaf Notcua is with their branding colors. Noctua is a strong brand despite their branding, not because of it. That says a lot toward their engineering and technical design when they are a success despite such ugly branding. Just imagine if they actually killed off the 2-tone brown nonsense? Sure, they already make everything in black also, but why the 2-tone brown at all? It's not a good look. Makes me wonder the origin story of it all. Maybe they got a ton of excess brown dye for plastic extrusion for cheap when they started out and just kept at it?
