So I just bought an ASUS tablet its running Android 4.2. It's running a Tegra3 SOC with 1gb of ram. Doing any thing makes the entire thing crawl. I've tried to make sure i keep everything closed on it but even then its slow, ram usage is about 560mb of 1gb so it should be doing better than this right?

Anyone got any advice to make this thing respond instead of apps randomly locking up, and crashing. I did try a reset its fast right until you install anything lol.

I have the exact same tablet. In fact I am playing Fallout shelter on it right now. Mine usually runs everything pretty quick but after Fallout shelter with over 100 dwellers, usually it starts to lag bad, like 2 FPS. I have tried running a few programs to speed it up but I usually get frustrated and jam a paper clip in the reset hole and it does fine for a bit. I thought about rooting it but I just don't want to go through all the drama. CCleaner helps a little and most games and apps seem to work well when you put it on performance mode. I have had mine for probably 3 years and I actually use it every single day. I have yet to find a 10" that does as well (some of the samsung Tabs are pretty good) only I wish it had more ram.

Never tried running that on there. One other thing would be to clean the cache. It's settings > Apps > then click on each app in turn and then click on its "clear cache" button. You can kinda see what apps/processes are hogging stuff and slowing it down. I think there is a cleaner or sweeper program that I have used a few times.

Not sure what games you like but "Swordigo" is a very fun Zelda-ish game and "The Cave" is a good one too, kind of a problem solver story where you can use different characters to complete tasks. Beach Buggy is fun and there are some good Defense games as well. Epoch is a fun robot shooter. I have seen all of those free at one time or another. For movies, I use MX player on it.

I rooted mine, put KatKiss on it, and it was still slow. Turns out the microSD card was horribly corrupted. I reformatted it with SDFormatter, put it back in, and everything was much faster.

I have read some stuff about using data2sd to read from the sd card for better performance but I'm too lazy to do anything like that. Another gripe of mine is the proprietary charger/data port. I bought one of those stupid usb converters for it but still. If this thing had 2 gigs of ram, a normal usb port and stereo speakers, it would be pretty cool. I bought a 1080P 10" Tablet a while back and that REALLY slowed things down.  Honestly, with all that this tablet has been through, I am amazed mine even powers on anymore. I use spashtop on it too to remote my main and htpc computer when I am "indisposed" or in bed. My power button is worn so bad, it is transparent plastic now.

Put the task manager widget on one of your screens. Android is notorious for lettings apps running whenever they please. I often have to use the boost feature to free up ram on my Asus tablet.

I will have to try some of those when I get home (no interwebz on my tab right now) and see how they perform. Splashtop for remote works awesome for me, even streaming movies. I get a little delay or stuttering sometimes but I think that is mostly from my slow internet speed.

I'm considering rooting it to flash katKiss on it, though right now just checking the XDA forum. I'd really like this useful for my family, I myself am set on getting a use RT 2, as I just prefer Windows lol.

I have the opposite opinion. I really liked the Transformer T100TAF, but it had charging issues. Returned it and got a Surface 3.

Glad you seem to have gotten the problem fixed. I experienced the issues with the SD card like primarylupine. Good luck in the future, hopefully it stays snappy!

No. I know someone else that has one with a dock and it is nice to have the extra battery life but it is pretty flimsy and I have read horror stories about them braking.

good to know, maybe ill just look for a case with a kick stand then, also a little humor

The tablet uses the windows 7 default background and i replaced google search with bing, for my own twisted sense of humor lol
