flamingaxe791 That is one hell of a AMD beast, I wonder how it stacks up against intels new six core cpu. this is a kick ass system, as it is a Quad Channel DDR3 vs the intel triple channel DDR3. Also it have 4 Hyper Transports for 4 cpu socket supported!! This is the mobo for 48 REAL Cores system http://www.tyan.com/produ...=670&SKU=600000180 48 Cores systems for home@folding . OMFG "I think I wet my pant" lol Wonder if I will get a BR for this quote. lmao

TheCrazyCanuck If anyone pulls the trigger and gets this let us know how it folds (under native Linux of course) +1, I want to see 48 core bigadv. Keep the power bill away from me though. Sad thing is I doubt a OC able/worthy board will be made for these so you could never really compare clock to clock against the Xeons. I don't think EVGA plans on making another AMD ever. Would be nice to see the SR-2 folding as well. BK that board is insane. Crysis would run real nice installed on the RAM along with the OS...lol

Damn I wish there was a board manufacture for AMD servers that offered overclocking capabilities. The 6174 TDP is pretty low so it might have enough timing margin for some hefty speed up. The prices I saw listed were very low considering what you normally see in the server space.

ahhh now this, this is what the SR2 should have been built around, imagine 48 TRUE cores, with quad sli, and Quad channel ddr3. WOW

WOW And a refrigerator to store it in Quad socket boards don't have much room for PCI/PCIx/PCIe slots so the board would probably need to be the size of a full tower case to fit all that stuff on. I'm shocked the SR2 has as much functionality crammed into the form factor it uses (big form factor but the feature set is impressive)

chumbucket843 http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2010/03/31/amd-opteron-6174-vs-intel-xeon-x5650-review/9 It is great to see that the AMD's are doing so well against the latest Intel processors. Also, I like the idea of having 12 cores versus 6 cores with HT. I found some pricing on Intel's 8-core chip (Beckton) which also supports quad-channel memory, but it looks like this chip will cost 3-4K each depending on model. The AMD 12-core chips have much better pricing.

I'm kinda speechless! :-) I wonder if the motherboards come with a lifetime supply of refrigerant. And how many pins in that giant socket? Cheers! IC
