I'm more for some Server version of Noctua coolers.
Now Noctua will pain in black as well.
I predict little economic problems for Intel after AMD Threadripper 2 and 2800X show up soon.
Intel was bad against some part of customers and hurt me a lot because excluded me from i7-8086K.
I'm probably among part of people 1000-2000 of them,
who know and understand best value of that processor and for some customers that's only chance for money or switch to AMD.
I don't want to say don't buy Intel but you will look stupid if you invest in processor before Ice Lake and 10nm show up and security bug fix completely.
And I can't see how Intel could show up with something better. People are right, they are in bad, period and I even think that Intel could delay some of stronger processors to avoid humiliation buy AMD.
Intel didn't ready... still they are not ready to gave up from higher price and launch insanely cheap processors who cost how much he deserve in comparison with AMD.
They still think to pull you from your wallet 500-600$ more than AMD CPU for some similar models because glory in previous years and slight dominanced in applications who use 4-6 cores. Than it's cheaper to buy AMD Threadripper 2 and i5 with Mini ITX board than Intel high end CPU.
But I would not be surprised if tomorrow show up some experts who will say Now we have evidence, Intel was in advantage because ignored security side of processors and because AMD made mistake with Bulldozer. Intel dominance could finished before 4-5 years, 3-4 years after Nehalem. Only AMD didn't had product.
Now Intel is in similar situation and if they not show up with new generation AMD will drain their Zen core and improve him and Intel will not be able any more to compete with 6 cores and 4.8-5.0GHz frequency.
Even now some people estimate that Intel worth of shoping because clocks some people can't even reach, they estimate them as average clock, frequency only capable to set with good AIO systems and watercooling and delidding.
I don't see how I could upgrade platform before 2020, special Intel. I don't believe that they could show product good enough.
I more think that for same price I would be able to buy AMD with 4-6 cores mores with 2-3 fps less on 4K.
New Threadripper in games will be 5fps weaker than Skylake-X, and it's 3 times faster than i9-7900X. 300% stronger, 2200 score vs 6xxx score in Cinebench.
Some people say that AMD will maybe ask only 1399$ for him. Do you know what that mean for people who have i9-7900X or even i9-7980XE and who need serious platform.
32 cores ready for 4K gaming, 250W power consumption, not 500W as OC Intel.
