Hey, all

so a couple days ago I received the Hybrid kit from EVGA and yesterday I was going to install it, but when I got to the removing of screws from the stock shroud, one was so tightened that I couldn't unscrew it no matter what. It was a tiny black screw on the side - 1,5mm hex. And of course I stripped the head, while trying to unscrew it. So I was pissed I couldn't install the Hybrid kit, until someone told me to just drill the head off. Scared as I was I carefully drilled it off, but the rest of the screw is still "stuck" and I cant get it out with pliers. The hybrid is now successfully installed, but that one screw is still stuck there. It is not hindering the Hybrids function or anything, I just want to get it out somehow, any help? I messaged EVGA, but no answer yet

Thanks

P.S: here is my setup with the Hybrid installed, also would love suggestion on the Hybrid hose placement, currently it is pressed against the plexi...

Tiny screw remover or Easyout with a reversible drill would be my choice. If your lucky EVGA might allow a replacement screw if the threads are ok.

You shouldn't have drilled the head off. I don't think there is any hope of removing the screw now. The screw is held in by thread adhesive and you have no surface area to grab onto now that the screw head is gone.

I think such a small easy-out will break instantly and since an easy-out is so hardened, you will be in even more trouble trying to remove the hardened easy-out chunk.

You should have cut a notch in the screw head so you could have used a flat-headed screw driver to remove the screw after heating the screw with a soldering iron.

Well, that would have been an impossible task, the screw was like 2-3mm in diameter :( I will try to heat up the rest of the screw with a glue gun (without the glue of course) and try to unscrew it with pliers, I was recommended this by a dude who had this exact issue... will post results once done

Yea, there is not a tap and dye small enough to get that out. To properly do it, you have to drill it completely out and then rethread it.
EVGA is cool and may not care if you ever have to RMA but technically the warranty is voided now.

Well, thank God I never had to RMA a single thing from EVGA then :D

Not impossible. I have done it before and so have others using a Dremel.
