Hello all, Here's the problem. I just recently upgraded from a BFG 7800 GTX to a new EVGA 9800 GTX. Strange shapes (polygons) are appearing at random when playing games and running NVIDIA's system monitor. I don't notice anything strange when using apps. I noticed this slightly when I had the 7800 GTX installed but just lived with it. Temps on the GPU seem ok. 120-140f. Video Capture Lotro.1 NVmonitor Screenshots NVmonitor NVmonitor.2 Anyone know what might be causing this? Here are the system specs. Intel D925XECV2 MB w/ 3.73Ghz processor 4GB RAM EVGA 9800 GTX (6.14.12.5721 driver) Antec 500w PSU Windows XP Pro DirectX 9.0c Removed all old video drivers with Driver Sweeper. Latest chipset drivers NVmonitor removed System Memory checked - OK Thanks for any help! -Mike

Might very well be an insufficient PSU..The EVGA Spec is 450W system minimum with 24A for the card , that's for an average system and all depends on whatever else you have sucking more/less power too..You can use a Wattage Caculator to get a ballpark figure of what you need..Welcome to the forums.

Thanks I'm thinking the same. A new 750w PSU is on the way. I'll post the results soon.

Did you do a fresh install of Nvidia drivers? Or just swap cards?

I stated in the original post that I removed all video drivers with driver sweeper. Is there something better?

No, I guess I missed that part 120f to 140f seems high. Are you monitoring these temps with Precision? Is this at idle? Or at load?

IMO it was normally a heat problem. Are they overclocked? Are the fans up all the way when this happens? are they getting sufficent ambient air? When did you measure those temps as thats a pretty big range?

All fans cranked. Let me be more specific about the temps. I was seeing the 120f after the machine was booted up and idling for some time. Once I loaded a game and started playing I was seeing the 140f. I'm seeing about 108f right after it boots up. From what I have read these temps are very normal. Mute point anyways. I had my son come over this weekend with his machine and we put his card in my machine and all was fine. His card: EVGA 9800GTX+ :) RMA on it's way. Thanks for all the help!!
