Good question. When I do end up taking my Titan x back, this will be one of the ones I will be looking at. That gold is hideous, I mean absolutely sickening to look at, but it will be face down so I will not see it.

Are you sure they released the Hybrid kits for the 980/Titan X the day the cards were released? If so, that has me kind of concerned

Yes cause the hybrid 980 came out with the hybrid after launch and sold the cooler too. And I was on here the day the titan x hybrid came out before it even sold out and the cooler was available separately

Oh so those Hybrid variants didn't come out the same day the reference designs launched I take it?

No the titan x one just came out last week and the 980 one came out after the 980 launch so maybe they will start selling just the cooler for the 980ti soon hopefully. I would get the titan x one but I'm not sure if its compatible cause titan x has more vram?

They really need to sort out some of these stock issues. It is pretty silly to expect your customers to sit at their computers and hit f5 for hours to get in that precious small window for them to give you money.

They were all in stock this morning around 6am et when I checked. By the time I got to work around 7am et they were all sold out. I ordered mine from nvidia yesterday, they said outta stock by that night were available again this morning and now out of stock again. Try newegg they usually fluctuate all day.

Passive back plates have never made a real difference anyway. They are mostly for aesthetics and PCB protection (which some argue is pointless). This Ti should run cooler because there aren't chips on the back which will inherently lower the ambient temps of the PCB in general.

It would make more sense though for a Company to have "more in stock", especially when a product is, in fact, being released on day 1. Of course the majority of people don't think logically. But most of is the #s, and being overshipped, can also come into play with it. They probably want to make sure all of them will sell.

I'm sure that if EVGA had the ability to have more stock right now, they would. Manufacturing isn't instantaneous. Especially in a case like this where the release date was probably set by Nvidia and EVGA didn't want to be that one vendor that didn't have day 1 stock just because they were waiting for more units.

Ended up ordering two reference 980ti but i wanted these hybrids so bad. Been refreshing all day since yesterday and haven't seen any in stock. Everytime i wanted a evga card i could never buy it from this site intead had to overpay at newegg or other vendors.

Well, one less person hitting F5 now--gave up and just went with the stock cooler. Going to be replacing it in 12-18 months with Pascal+HBM2 anyway.

I think i might be lucky because i already ordered two reference cards directly from nvidia but all i wanted were these hybrids. So i will be receiving 4 cards in the next few days yay!
