I do some placement Tests

Solution 1

Solution 2

none of these two solutions satisfy me

I decide: dismount, tallow and change everything

reinforcement

A look with the MoBo

OK Approved

I do a new rear panel

Some test of what I want to do

I installed the MoBo

At this point a good test to see if the result is satisfactory or whether to operate other changes

At the same time start a mini-project:

PROJECT DANGEROUS POWER TANKs

Re: Project: 900D Monster Xtreme 2015/05/19 12:28:28 (permalink)
Hi guys,

today  a small but interesting up, as I said I wanted to perfect the part with the fans, especially in front

I had an idea in my mind for some time and could not wait to try it, today is therefore a session of experimental Modding

the appropriate materials

and with a bit of old style Modding

the difference between with and without

I mounted all 4 parts to see the final effect

and I turned on the Enermax Apollish

The work is not finished, I want to glue the circular parts to red plexy and wrap the visible inner parts, the choice will be between  Red or Black Carbon or also Metallic, I will make the evidence clearly.

My initial idea was to have an effect Reactor or Jet engine type, if you put together this with the effect of LED System as we saw the last time, it should be similar, what do you think?

Thanks Bro!
Definitely BIG.
I wanted to make the biggest case on which I had never worked! And put in a lot of little things that I had always wanted....
Among this all the wonderufl HW of my wishes, EVGA included. Wishes of more than a year ago, so it can be that before the end of the project I changes some HW with the new generation

Re: Project: 900D Monster Xtreme 2015/06/09 23:20:28 (permalink)
I started to do some changes. First to the top of the case, where is  the Monsta 560 that I had moved higher, I went to enlarge the fans openings as much as possible

I took measurements and I did the drawings in Autocad for the plexy cover.

Then I had to take the measures of the Cooling Tower facade, where do I place the bays supports

To continue with the plexy parts measures  I assembled case and Cooling Towers.

in this work I have had a bit of trouble, so I planned to make several changes

Re: Project: 900D Monster Xtreme 2015/06/09 23:33:52 (permalink)
We go with the second part, as I said the previous Modding session revealed several problems and necessary changes, furthermore to remove the panel have also broken it, I'll just make it best.

here the necessary changes in order to position the future panel more easily

Retrying the panel I gained about 5 mm per side

and around the MoBo support no longer needed the notches

To lock the side panels better I added a new aluminum edge

After placing plexy panels in position everything is much more solid

The panels protrude upward of about 15 mm because above there is another part, and I'd like to have full plexy coverage

Re: Project: 900D Monster Xtreme 2015/06/09 23:45:45 (permalink)
A couple of things I had left behind.

I had done a LED System and the fans ducts for a front but lacked for the other

And a third that I've already done it twice:  PSUs support, I know that you will not see it and that the PC will stand almost always firm, but I want that all parts are solid and that they remain in place even if the case was overturned.

I removed the old support

and I built the new

the last part of locking

Next time

Re: Project: 900D Monster Xtreme 2015/06/10 23:51:47 (permalink)
Latest products arrived.

Plugs panel with switch, now I just have to find the right place to put them.

an interesting thing that I wanted to experience: a speed controller for DC motors (Pmax 1000W-15A), why do I needit?
to adjust LED strips, I know that there are Drimmer ready, but in this Mod I want the wheels to turn (potentiometer) and the problem is that I have many meters of powerful LED strips.

How do you imagine I could not resist and I did a test immediately

And finally a bit 'of things from Aquatuning

20 Red LEDs

2 Station for 20 LEDs

and 50 fasteners

clearly I tried also these LEDs

But go with Modding, as anticipated last time I wanted to put the ducts also in the fans down, even though I knew that it presented difficulties .....

I take measures and do the ducts

The problem is that in the structure that I built the opening for this fan is a bit tight so I have to make some changes

and here is the effect

I widened the openings in front and behind, I still have to retouch the locking support, so you see it with the plexy is bent of few mm.

Hi guys,

Today I finished the work started yesterday, I made another 4 fan ducts

and shaped the supports so that did not touch on the same ducts

and now cover plexy is perfectly in place

today is also arrived a package with some Wrap films

Hi guys,

the carbon fiber wrap red arrived, it doesn't have the same quality as that 3M, however, it seems usable for small details

Remember when I modified the original windows of the 900D

Well I decided not to use them and make custom plexy transparent windows, thanks to my friends  C3r34L3 and sangyzan for the suggestion.

First I made a new rear edge, which allow me to attach the rear panel, to have a interspace where to run the cables that go to the Mobo and the SSD and finally that will enable me to put a strip of LED to illuminate the panel.

Considering the new window and considering the aspect that will have the case without windows, I didn't like  the edges because of irregular and with visible rivets

I therefore decided to modify them so they are smooth and homogeneous so they can be painted or wrap, clearly all aluminum

Here is the final effect

What do you think about to wrap these parts in carbon fiber black?

I work on pumps support, the initial idea was that it was raised from the plane of about 1-2 cm

L support

Horizontal bracket with cable open

Test height pumps

fixing plate pumps

And here is the result

More I looked them, less I liked ......

I tried to turn them and ........

Much better! Indeed IMHO are really good

Re: Project: 900D Monster Xtreme 2015/08/09 07:18:59 (permalink)
I do some position test for the loop, something I wanted to use from the beginning are the Silver Coil Mayhems spirals

here is some tubes

This solution don't convince me much, especially as aesthetics.
So I dusted off an old solution that I had set aside because the spaces are too precise, put the connecting pipes under the floor and behind the side panels, another solution is to put out the Tanks

I then redone the pumps support as anticipated to have more space above and in front

The support isn't touching the floor, it's raised by 5 mm, the last finishing touch with chrome edging, which I will use also other parts like finish

Re: Project: 900D Monster Xtreme 2015/08/09 10:07:57 (permalink)
I do the duct fans Wrapping Test to decide which color-material have the best effect

Assembled it all

Here are four options:

1) Mirrored chrome effect, this film is very difficult to put on a curved surface, it is 3M but not for car wrapping, is specific for glass or flat surfaces

2) Brushed Metal, this film is beautiful and I have seen it used in some projects on SSD and other parts, in this application, however, it seems me that doesn't sit well with the red and black plexy

3) Red Carbon Fiber, this would be my first choice but 3M doesn't offer this color, so I bought the film on Amazon and with fans off  you can see a big difference ....

4) Black Carbon Fiber, the quality can be seen, 3M original film, a bit thick to put on, but it's fantastic, it isn't exactly the effect that I had thought but very nice I'm reevaluating it

I would like these parts were beautiful both with fans off that on, certainly you must consider that for a long time the PC is turned on.

Then turn on the turbojet !

Here are four options turn on:

1) Mirrored chrome, much better than turn off, but not the effect that I had thought, moreover this film, because of its characteristics, has imperfections

2) Brushed Metal, this film hasn't a good effect even with the fans on

3) Red Carbon Fiber, as expected this color maximizes the effect of the fans LED, but you continue to note the low quality of the material

4) Black Carbon Fiber, the quality is undeniable, there is also the 3D effect, but there isn't a real incandescent effect of duct as above

I am torn between the two colors of Carbon Fiber

PS.
I ordered a new  Red Carbon Fiber film of Hexis specific for Car Wrapping

I modified for the third time the pumps support and the support plate behind

Before

After

Now, however, I'm satisfied, the back plate is more solid and supports the whole structure, the opening for the pumps wiring of is very comfortable

Hi guys,

arrived a Rock 'n Roll a package from the UK, and what's more Rock' n Roll of Fender guitars?

and I will use the chrome knobs on my Mod!

Don't you think that I would use those included?

I wanted do some finish and I wrapped mirror the pumps support plan to get a chrome effect

I painted with chrome paint the black supports that I had sawn

At the end finishes will be all chrome as fittings.

Here is the piece assembled

WWOOOWWW!!!! This is some project man. Looks great so far. I gotta say I love experimental modding.... and you put it up in picts so a big thumbs up to you!!!   When I saw a couple of the picts, back on the 3 or 4 page, with it running it reminded me of a stereo system if you covered the fans in the middle of the case and just left the array of 4 fans on the outside left and right of the case, lol. Anyway, keepup the good work and don't pay attention to my hallucinations, lmao. \m/

Re: Project: 900D Monster Xtreme 2015/09/27 06:59:52 (permalink)
After the first LOOPs tests with illuminated plane, pumps and Cooling Towers in position I decided to put out 2 BP Water Tank Z-400 Multi,  that are fantastic and huge, as you know. I'll do a specific Mod of these Tanks.

The first tests made however were not satisfactory:

I so decided to make a change that in the course of Mod i think several times, but had never done because it would take me a lot of time: making an extension which lengthens further case.

In a first version I tested an extension of 100 mm

in a second extension of 120 mm, that's the difference before-after treatment "Enlarge your Case"

and the case with both extensions installed

I also had to redo the case top , this has made happy my monkeys because  before the Monsta was precise whereas now there is much more space

A test with a cover (it isn't the final one) and the grid

Meanwhile also arrived the new Red Carbon Fiber film of HEXIS for the fans ducts.  I ordered it in Nederland, the previous film hadn't satisfied me for the low quality, this costs about ten times more but the difference can be seen. It's of the same quality of 3M if not better, with real 3D effect to the touch
