I thought they nipped the ti 6GB in the bud, because it would impede on those $1k Titan Black sales you know.

3GB's has been plenty in my experience on 1080p, 1440p, 3240x1920 Surround, and 3840x2160. Maybe someone said it already but you'll run out of power before you do vram.

I will either find a way, or make one.

Yeah, and even the 2gb 680 sli or 690 is starting to show its age GPU WISE, already there are games out it cant effectively max out in SLI. The GTX 680 btw wasn't "recently" released, it was released over 2 years ago. Its effectively entering its third year. And the 4gb variant has shown to have no performance increase over the original 2gb version at 1080p/1440p resolutions.

And lets get off the consoles......they do NOT have 8gb worth of memory to use, realistically its in the 4gb range, and one one of those consoles they are USING DDR3 MEMORY. Being a programmer you do know the pros/cons of DDR3 and GDDR5 right? Only one platform uses both. Can you guess which platform that is?

ANd please, using flawed 4k screens gimped at 60hz is not my idea of cutting edge tech. Id rather game on my 1080p 144hz screen that has Gsync module. No artifacting, superior depth of field..........in 2-3 years time when gpu's can actually run 4k with ease, and 4k screens have 120hz refresh/gsync ability, then Ill look into it. 4k though does not mean better. I know that first hand. ;)

The GTX 680 is basically same as GTX 770 2gb, and the 770 is recently released. There aren't any benchmarks for recent games, such as Watch Dogs. 680 SLI is still pretty strong horsepower wise, may be stronger than 780 Ti.

And game devs use console memory the same regardless of DDR3: http://www.tweaktown.com/news/38126/watch-dogs-woes-you-d-better-have-2gb-of-vram-or-more/index.html

The TN panel's color is basically the same as my PLS panel, I compared it. Older TNs have a bad rep. I prefer resolution over 61+ framerate. Consoles don't value fps as much and cut it to 30. The text looks way better even for browsing the internet.

I haven't found a case where 2gb causes significant framerate drop, but there aren't many benchmarks games past June 2013.

You can still get 3gb but the peace of mind of 6gb costs extra, and can be a lot extra. I'm trying to experiment something so I can actually use the double precision on my titans.

Personally I went with Titan Blacks because I wanted to go for the best and worry about nothing else.

A. The 770 is just a rebadged/refined 680(GK104), its still a 2 plus year old design. And the GPU alone is already showing its age........
B. Unified or not DDR3 due to latency is optimized for CPU's, GDDR5 is optimized for graphics bandwidth. The PC runs both, DDR3 for CPU, GDDR5 for GPU's, with DX11.2 out now and 12 around the corner unified memory won't be a necessity necessarily. Regardless, as of today and how PC's stand:

C. The Watch Dogs link you gave is worthless. The game runs terrible regardless of how much vram is on a card, 2,3,4,6 gigs it doesn't matter. AMD got rid of the stuttering due to driver pacing in their latest beta release, but the game takes a performance hit with a ton of other bugs. If the developers properly patch the game and code the texture caching properly there won't be an issue with VRAM on the PC. Do yourself a favor and hold off on silly WD links and wait till a broken beta game is actually fixed.

People here seem to forget, Assasin's Creed Black Flag(Another Ubisoft GEM when it was released) which uses a similar game engine also had a TON of problems with stuttering, CPU utilization, memory leaks and multiple bugs that caused random crashes............well now after 2-3 patches it runs buttery smooth with NO STUTTERING on cards with 1-3gb of vram. WD is no more demanding a game than AC:BF, if anything its graphically less demanding. ;)

I asked Jacob on Twitter a few weeks back regarding the Ti 6GB version and his reply was "sorry, they are not likely to happen anymore."

So who knows.
