As dealerships have been doing this with cars for years, why is this a surprise?
The Type R setups have always gone for more just like the Hell Cats and Shelby’s, so it isn’t a surprise to see another dealership trying to make a buck.

I agree, markup for rare or special models happens a lot. A friend sent this to me who has worked with dealerships for over 20 years. This is egregious.

Yep! $7,500. However, demand has caused some dealerships to markup prices by sometimes over 10k. It's the worst.

My local RAM dealer tried to tell me that there was a premium on new HD trucks right now because of the shortage. They wanted 5k over MSRP. I laughed, walked away and managed to find a deal for 6% under invoice at another dealer.

GTR is always expensive. Even without COVID, GTR will get marked up. Depending on the dealer, some are willing take off some of the custom items, that can drop price down by $10k or $20k. If the dealer doesn't drop it, I would move to the next dealer.
