damn man?   take it easy.

Didn't realize my waterblock "offended" the voodoo relic collectors.  He wanted something special, and we designed it together.  I still think fondly of the project.

I was honored to work on the museum piece.  After all, it was his card.  I will leave it at that.

He is not special, he is a plague and has caused us lots of troubles through the entire 3dfx community.
I prefer to keep this out of my topic thanks no I am not going to calm down if this plague is going to infest my own topics here as well.
Also I have already notified the admins of this subject, they are up to date of his so called ways of doing, people don't like his work they get harassed and burnt to the ground.

He uses me (Gold Leader) as his cheap excuse and hos ongoing demotivate talk, my friend Goriath even pointed that out to to stop using me as his excuse:
http://www.falconfly.de/c...l?num=1321196982/41#41

Us 3dfx people had too many bad rides with this person and that is just what I wanted to point out before his nonsense takes place here as well.

At 3DCenter they too are fed up with this modding nonsense as he ruins more precious 3dfx Engineering Samples

Very nice thank you.  ^_^

Any time bud and if you need more help setting up, make a post and I will do my best  to help out
Win2K Pro + SP4 is the os I preferably use over 98SE but there are ways of making 98SE more stable with the unofficial service packs that enable NTFS file support and a working task manager.
Even though Win2K is still the utmost best imo, especially when it comes to CPU & system memory usage, the choice will always be user defined

Hello, I have just purchased one of the cards on this list from User: Markus in Spain.

How can I provide appropriate verification for the list to be updated?

My handle is "erek" and I'm from the U.S.

Thank you

Hey guys, It's my first post on this forum. Greetings you all.

My name is Nick, i'm from Sofia, Bulgaria, so mind you that English is not my native language:)
I fell in love with 3dfx products, because my first vga was a 3dfx banshee. I bought a used PC from a game club as a kid, and worked the whole summer to afford the mighty K6-2 and the banshee, played lost of NFS, Quake, Half-life, and many games. Wicked GL FTW:) And the voodoo did not disappoint, but I tried to overclock both the K6 and the banshee:) They both died on me after some time, if I remember correctly. Never learned the lesson. Bought a K6 III and a more modern ASUS P5A, overclocked again:)
But...to the point of this post:

I own a voodoo 5, just like the colleague "Gold Leader" has:

3dfx voodoo 5 5500 PCI Macintosh 64MB Rev.A1 2900 With PC BIOS 1.18_LCD

I was wondering, how many of these were produced? Are they considered "rare"? Are they included in the owner list? Can you include mine? I can provide proof tomorrow.
I happen to own it from quite some time. It was a gift from a friend who disassembled his power mac and knew I like the brand. It was at least 10 years ago, I think. I powered that card a couple of times back then, when he gave it to me. To flash the bios. I had to, because I didn't have a mac to test if it was working. Haven't powered it since then. It is in mint condition, I believe, and maybe it's time to power it again to make sure it's working. I also had other 3dfx boards, they either died from my first overclocking attempts, or I gave them to friends. Some I sold. So that is my memory of the brand.

I still have my old 3dfx 6000 and reviewer instructions. I remember the first time I loaded it up and put FSAA 4X on and loaded up Tribes. What an improvement to image quality! At the time not having edges that looked like Mario's body was amazing. Back at the time I remember people overclocking and disabling audio in games just to increase the frame rate and with the 6000 everything was really smooth.

Guys, here's a picture I made today:

I also found the other graphics card from the power mac. They were at the same place. Guess I have forgotten about that one:) It's a NVidia. The card posted successfully today. But only at the second mainboard I tried - a socket A one with an Athlon. My first choice was an ASUS P5E-VM DO. But guess the ASUS didn't recognize it. And I got worried a little, but it posts normally. So that's nice. And I will call it enough of emotion for today. Next is testing on Windows. I think I should try to power it on a kaby lake motherboard, and run some benchmarks on that platform. But first I have to install windows 7. Should I make a separate thread?

EDIT: Forgot to also say, I will test if it does widescreen on the dvi when I find the time:)

The 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh isn't as rare as the Engineering Samples are, but it still is the best Voodoo5 card to use in your retro to even modern system jsut as long it has a PCI-X 66Mhz Slot or a PCI 2.1 32Bit Slot the card will work fine.

If using a PCI64 66Mhz slot make sure you set the 64 Bit PCI Slot to 32Bit mode with a 66Mhz Bus speed, this way it will perform like  a V5 5500 AGP  :)
And you have the DVI-D as advantage for better image quality output with certain flatpanels like the EIZO Flexscan S2000 for example :)
Need help with drivers feel free to ask me anytime, I don't have all my cards anymore but I do have the knowledge to aid people when ever I can and I am co-owner of the official x-3dfx community as well :)

And welcome to EVGA Community Forums too btw.

Amazing Collection Gold Leader. Thanks for posting this. It takes back great number of memories.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Hey all I am going to try and renovate this thread, it will take some times but I do have all the photo's backed up that are missing, What happened was that the code of my 3dfx gallery changed as well as the web host, so I will do my best to fix this nice thread, been wondering what else to do here so I'll start here fixing this nice research project of mine, the Voodoo5 6000 & 5000 owner lists may not be as accurate as they were from the years 2001 - 2012 but at least some of it can be brought back to how it once was.

Anyways I'll start today and see where I get, EVGA may not produce graphics cards anymore, but at least as veteran forum members go, we can keep this place alive as long as we can right?
Well that is my mindset for now anyway

Well it seems that was a waste of time, this forum is very broken omg...

Anyways here the list Iam TRYING to edit/post:

Hi EVGA friends,

It has been quite a while that I posted something from my 3dfx days, something none of you have really read about, and since I have been in contact with my x-3dfx buddies and crew, I really wanted to spare time to tell you my experiences with the 3dfx people, Crew and entire 3dfx community.
Back then I made some very large milestones but also I continued supporting 3dfx communities even after the fall of 3dfx to like 2009, mainly where it came to the Napalm based boards, the Voodoo5 series which used the VSA-100 meaning Voodoo Scalable Architechture-100, 100 being the first in it's kind.

The boards I was interested in most was the Voodoo5 line, mainly the never released Voodoo5 6000 AGP 128MB & never released Voodoo5 5000 AGP & PCI.
The Voodoo5 6000 AGP was the Quad Chip SLI High-end Voodoo5, as where the Voodoo5 5000 AGP/PCI were the low end Voodoo5 boards.
3dfx worked on the Voodoo5 6000 for a good 55 weeks+, it never made it to the market, all because it was far too complex for it's time, even that ex-3dfx Engineer Hank Semenec made a fix for it in 2002, named PCI-Rework, that was like 2 years after the demise of 3dfx it's self; most of the 3dfx techies took home their work and worked on it until they really solved it, the 3dfx community was still active in 2002 and many people started buying these Engineering Samples, not only for their collections but mainly due to pure interest and curiosity, just to find out what they missed out on, what could these cards do and what could be improved driver wise.

So I thought before entering this unique world, I decided to study what is known and just question these people and these left over ex-3dfx Engineers, programmers you name it, the entire bucket list of questions, doubts thoughts everything fell in to place, eventually.

After I acquired my 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP 128MB Rev.A 3700 on December 17, 2005, I started to ask around who else had this card, who else had idea's to make it run stable with what driver I was making a list that showed all the people who had this particular card and that also showed the amount of revisions the owners had and what country they live in.
And I did this list to about May 12, 2009 something like that, so all what you are about to see is from May 12, 2009, so it may be somewhat inaccurate as owners go, but the amount of boards found is pretty close to accurate even today same as the amount of Defective and functional boards go.

Before I start showing the lists & research, here a video of the 3dfx Oral History Panel with the original Founders from 3dfx Interactive it's self, interviewed by Shayne Hodge on July 29, 2013 in Mountain View, California, X6887.2013
Computer History Museum

From left to right:

Gary Tarolli - founder & CTO
Scott Sellers - Executive VP Engineering, CTO, co-founder, member Board of Directors
Ross Smith - founder
Gordon Campbell - Chairman of the Board and Founder

"3dfx was a pioneering consumer computer graphics company best known for its Voodoo Graphics accelerators for PCs. Their graphics products also found their way into popular arcade games such as San Francisco Rush and NFL Blitz. 3dfx's cards and their Glide API were arguably the most popular and important products of their era. Despite their early dominance in the computer graphics industry, 3dfx went from industry leader to bankruptcy in just a few years' span. In this oral history, the four original co-founders discuss the history of 3dfx, lessons learned, and anecdotes from their careers in technology.

Visit http://www.computerhistor...ections/oralhistories/ for more information about the Computer History Museum's Oral Histories Collection."

As my 3dfx past goes, mainly during the days after 3dfx Interactive was applied by NVIDIA cooperation on December 15, 2000, Itoo went my own way, had goals to collect 3dfx VGA cards and explore them research them even.
And help the 3dfx Community to apply them knowledge of the never released Engineering Samples so Icould give them a better view of what untold secrets 3dfx had with these Lab Cards.

So here is something I did for the entire 3dfx community, something no one else could do, yet i had all the contacts with probably the largest group of 3dfx collectors from 2002 to 2009, the data I have here is from 2005 to  2009, as the world owner lists go of the Voodoo5 6000's & 5000 Engineering Samples.

You could renovate this thread or start a new one.

yea well the forum software keeps changing what ever I fill in here, dunno how a forum code can be so broken tbh.
I have saved a draft as a txt file just for safe keeps.
