On my 3090, the switch on the side had OC and normal. If I understand correctly, the OC mainly just provides higher fan speeds? Now, I bought the 3090 Ti and it has 3 settings, OC, performance and normal. Are these three settings mainly just higher fan speeds as well?

I could have sworn that in the reviews I watched the bios actually had an impact on performance this round

I'll have to do more research on this topic then. If the OC is just louder but performs better, then I will flip the switch to OC. I can use the extra performance, as I am running at 4K 144Hz.

I just looked at the bioses and they all max out at 480w so it's probably just fan curves. If it were me I'd just flash the 516w bios to the oc switch and call it a day.

As part of your "research" would suggest simply trying each bios and monitor fan speed as well as clocks....you should have an "aha" moment doing this vs a ton of different opinions on here n reddit.....

I run my own fan curve mostly , keeping things cool make the boost clocks hold longer,  in normal the boost clocks on mine will drop to 1960-1935 , with my fan curve it holds 2040-2010, performance mode is the middle option that is just not as aggressive but turns the fans off bellow a certain temp, I always set a floor fan speed because why not cool the card down between usage. unless you flash a new bios , the power target is about the same for all these cards, I am going to try out the 890w bios later this afternoon.
