Well, here's a little cool story.
I was playing at night and decided to see how my PC was doing, I looked in the system, and the video card has 2/3 of the coolers running. I went to the internet and found that the problem may be in the EVGA Precision X1 software. I installed the latest version, and the coolers were not spinning at all and did not let me adjust them. I put Version 1.3.2.0 and manually set the speed and made sure that all 3 coolers are spinning, so the problem is in the software and not hardware. Next I went to MSI Afterburner, adjusted the custom curve and ON the checkbox - use firmware control mode and everything worked. At the same settings in games the card became colder by 6-8 degrees and accordingly even quieter, the cooler RPMs rarely reach 60%++.
So now I sit and wonder how long I played on 2/3 coolers, maybe even before my 3rd card maintenance, so my maintenance probably had a good effect

What the heck, I've returned and I have issues lol

My 3090 FTW3 was happy under EK vector water blocks on both sides. I think I used the pads provided by EK and I didn't have any isues for 4 years. Now I'm looking to sell this, I put back stock cooler and my PC shuts off after few minutes of gaming. I initially watched a random youtube video and put whatever close enough pads I had. My PC keeps shutting off. I saw what some mentioned the wrong size pad puts a bow on the card. I kept trying different sizes and got it straight enough - thought I fixed - then nope, shuts off again after just a little be longer.

I need to make sure this thing is good to resale so I'm hoping these pads will save me https://kriticalpads.com/evga-3090-ftw3 Aside from that is there something else I should know or check that might be causing shutdown under load?

BTW, there's a single MOSFET just on upper right corner of GPU die - why ain't this being cooled? The copper plate doesn't touch it either

The very first post on this thread literally goes into which pads to use, and that using the wrong ones anywhere affect the temps drastically. And that messing with them at all with the stock cooling is usually bad. Disclose that you've butchered the card when you sell it.

Dear Zeroblade,

Please contact our support at Support@EVGA.com with the registered serial number of the card and we can look into what options we have to try and help you.

Also please take note that these cards require Thermal Pads, Thermal Putty and Thermal Paste to be cooled properly.

We will be awaiting your email to try and help you further.
