Was playing Cyberpunk last Thursday when I lost video signal, fans ramped up to full speed, and the only thing glowing on the card was a single red LED above the 8pin connector furthest to the left.  Card serial starts with 2014.  GPU temps before the card stroked out were between 70-75 degrees.

PC being powered by a Seasonic Prime 1300w Platinum - 3 individual 8pin cables (ones that came with the PSU) - Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi.

Started the RMA process on Friday - no problems there ... gentleman on the other end of the call was very nice and helpful.  Have my EVGA 1080ti inside the build now ... that thing is still rock solid.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried.  I'm waiting on EKs GPU block (eta January) and the thought of having to tear my loop apart over and over because of a GPU, which should be "best of breed", but has an obvious defect (with other users experience the same or similar failures); has me on edge.

Hoping I don't regret this purchase long term.  I know EVGA will support the product; but I really don't want to spend the next 3 years rebuilding my rig every 6 weeks because of a GPU.  I know I'm jumping the gun here; but ya ... I'm really nervous about these 30 series FTW3s.  I bought the FTW3 for peace of mind - not so much now.

PC Specs:
Lian Li O11D XL Case
Asus Crosshair VIII Hero Wifi
AMD 5950x
4 x 8GB G.Skill 3600 RAM
2 x 2TB 970 EVO m.2
Seasonic Prime 1300w Platinum
2 x EK 360 PE Rads
EK Distro Plate with DDC 3.2
Bitspower Monoblock
6 x Corsair QL Fans

I've had a similar problem, but none of the LEDs glow.    The monitor goes blank and all of the fans on the card spin up to full speed.  If I turn off the PC or hit the reset button, the system boots and the card works again for a little while.

    Red lip.

I’m getting my replacement card on Thursday; it’s been pre-registered and serial also starts with 2014.

I’ll update on lip color after I receive it.

Anyone have problems with replacement 3090s starting with serial 2014?

Quick update - replacement card arrived today...serial starting with 2014 and still equipped with the ugly red lips. Refurbished card - not new...doesn’t matter as long as she’s stable; as she’ll be under water in 3 weeks.

Updated firmware using PX1, updated both Bios, deleted PX1 from PC l, shut down PC and flipped switch on GPU to OC.

Haven’t run any benchmarks but immediately notices that the idle temps on the card are better than my original - sitting between 29 and 33 degrees.

Fingers crossed that she’s a good card and will last.

Kudos to EVGA support for turning this RMA around very quickly and hassle free. As enjoyable as the experience was...let’s not do it again 😉

They sent you a refurbished 3090? My card just died two days ago. I want a new 3090. This **** cost me basically 2 grand. Were you sent a card in its original packaging?

This is really frustrating to hear. Do you have a 3 year warranty starting the day that you receive the refurbished card?
