Hello, my card in idle constantly goes over 60°C so fans start spinning and stop too much. I had reset nvidia pannel setting it seems to be be less agressive in curve temp but still goes to 60°C and start spining I must set fan speed to 30% to have a decent idle temp (30/33°C exactly). My card is one month old so totally new with black plastic accent not the red one from 2020 version. My configuration : Corsair Obsidian Series 500D RGB SE With 3 fan front set to minimum speed and one at the back minimum speed too. Watercooling in pull configuration Silent brown noctua fan. Proc : I7 6850K (2011-3 socket) Motherboard : MSI X99A MPOWER Ram : 32 GB DDR4 corsair power supply : EVGA Supernova 750 G2 The pci express in my motherboard seems to be Gen 3 (PCIe 3.0 x16). Is it a problem ?

Hello there! I can only think of two things in your case (which caused 50°c+ on my 3080 in idle) you have "Boost Lock" enabled in Precision X1 which causes the GPU to boost to its clock even in idle and / or you are doing something else while on the desktop (Youtube, Netflix etc?). I don't think your card is broken in any way. The PCIe Gen doesn't matter at all since you won't get noticeable differences in performance anyway. You could try adjusting your case intake fans for a little bit more airflor, maybe that helps. My Gaming X Trio 2080 also went pretty warm in Idle thanks to the fan stop feature. In the end, i had it on 30% for idle and up to 60% when gaming / doing work. Was quiet enough for me.

In your Corsair case if you have the Corsair case fans connected to a Corsair Commander Pro then change the stock fan levels to 50 percent using iCUE.

Have you confirmed the GPU is actually idle? Precision X1, HWifo64 and other apps can be used to view GPU Usage. Even when not completely idle, for example going to 5% load from being active on the desktop, my GPU sits around 27C. I am thinking the card is not actually idle.

Boost clock is disable on Precision X1 and i tried to push my case fan to maximum in ICUE it's very very loud and still warm to 60°C I just replaced my old EVGA 1080 SC to this 3090 FTW3 . Maybe i need to reinstall drivers correctly ? I don't know why but nothing work. My case have a really good air flow and perform well.

I set my fans at idle to 30% and my GPU idles around 28-30c.

Hmm that's Odd. I have the same card. It tends to idle at 28c-32c. Max of 67c when OC'd. I would call EVGA and see if they have any ideas.

Can you check HWMonitor or something to see what your other system temps are showing at idle? I'm curious because that rear exhaust fan seems to be out numbered especially set to min values. One suggestion is to move the CPU cooler to the front panel and move two of the fans from the front as top exhaust.

I think your fan configuration in the case is fine. The only thing I see that would be reducing flow is the front glass with side intake. The numbers shown in your PrecisionX screenshot are not idle numbers. Something is putting a load on the GPU. Your idle MEM / GPU / TARGET should be approximately 405 / 210 / 8. It also shows your fans are not on. With the card under a load and no fans that would explain a rise in temps. With my GPU Fans OFF, I still idle under 30C. I think your first task is figure out what is putting a load on the card when it should be idle.

Agreed... Open up Task Manager -> Processes -> Scroll to the right and see what is using your GPU

Hello there. I happen to have the same type of case (very good case btw) with a similar fan setup, albeit mine uses a front mounted aio in push/pull with top and rear exhaust fans. Did you try switching your gpu's bios to the OC setting? In the default, normal setting, the 3090 ftw3 ultra's fans stay off when idle; in that setting, my gpu temps idle at 40C. Switching to the OC settings sets a minimum rpm for the fans to operate at idle; just that alone brings gpu temps down to 28C. Hope that helps

I realize i had programs runing GPU (thanks RickJamesBish) I closed Wallpaper engine, and shadowplay instant replay BUT even with these program off temp still go to 60 Slowly but it goes to this temp again. When i closed apps : After cooling to 40°C and let the card in Auto (fans off) we can see the temp curve warming again... I'm little upset because my old 1080 SC runing shadowplay, wallpaper engine etc..; never get warm fans was every time off. Fans started spining when i played games.. totally normal and logic This 2000$ card is not able to stay quiet and cool when i'm not playing. I see lot of peaople talking about 30 /40° when not playing so i don't know. This is with OC setting : That's ok but this is because fan are spining at 33%. Good but i prefer normal setting and quiet mode. i will contact EVGA to have more info about all of this.

Do you have NVCP power management set to Prefer Maximum Performance? That might cause it but 60C is quite warm... would need horrible air-flow to get that warm I'd think.
