Hi, I just got my 3080TI FTW3 and noticed that in games like League of Legends the fans starts spinning for a few seconds and then stop.

This probably is because that game just makes the gpu reach the threshold for the fans to start spinning and then they stop because very little is needed in order to bring the temps again under said threshold.

Is there any way I can prevent this behavior? I know one way should be setting a custom fan curve (never done it so if you can provide a very easy fool proof guide it would be great for me

Otherwise, would be reducing the power limit also get the same result?

I watched JayzTwoCents video suggesting to reduce power limit... so my question is: does reducing the power limit also automatically reduces voltage/watts drawn or not?

I would be more comfortable in sacrificing a little bit of performance to make the gpu run less hot, just to be safe, especially when playing more demanding games (not League of course).

Would reducing power limit allow to solve both "issues" (fans start/stop at low load and better temps/less power draw in more demanding games)?

Thanks!

Flip the bios switch to OC mode. Make sure the computer is off before you do this.  This will prevent the fans from ever stopping though.

Well something strange is happening, can you set a manual fan speed? Might be a deeper problem.

After a second reboot now it seems they are now spinning regardless, so no issues it seems.
Can you tell me something about the power limit?

One thing that I noticed with my 3080ti when using Precision X1 was to make sure that you have the "Fan Curve Control" box checked in the bottom menu where you can set manual fan curves.

For some reason, my box was unchecked and I didn't pay attention and none of my custom fan curves were applying and I was getting 60C idle temps. As soon as I checked that box and hit apply it began to follow my custom fan curve and all was good.

these cards def need a firmware update, mine will constantly toggle fan 3 on and off even after i exit games and its frustrating cause the fan makes noise every time it starts from 0 rpm, sounds like a rattling water pump almost.  Turning on OC will fix it, cause the fans never shut off but the fan curve is way to aggressive, these cards should just work without having to mess with them.

From what ive seen the fans turn on at about 60c then shut off at 59c... seems kinda pointless the have the fans cycle on off on off constantly, just have them come on at 60c and shutoff at 50c or 45c

I always make my own fan curve and set the floor for at least 25% to cool the card when you get out a a loaded condition

OP, make sure you install and run the latest version of EVGA Precision X1, it will perform a Firmware update.

If you learn to use X1, you will be able to control Fans, Power Limit, RGB and other things, while also monitoring the card.

LoL puts very little load on a GPU, so on the normal Bios, it's barely getting out of the fans off idle.

May I ask if it is possible to turn all the fans off with X1 while I m chilling in office mode? It is possible to turn the third fan off indeed, but even when I make my own curve to 0 until 50° Celsius, fans are still running (last firware, last X1). Or it is just impossible to turn the 3 fans off ?
    Thanks

By the way, I have tried to OC quite much my FTW3 Ultra on X1, once I go more than 1000mhz OC on the memory and more than 150 Mhz on the CPU, benchmarks like 3D mark are getting nuts and give me 1/4 of my usual score, fps getting 4 times lower while it remains smooth with a high frame rate feeling... A bug maybe ? (regular score around 35K avg on firestrike).
Anyone had that phenomena already ? I do not know how to unlock the power limit above than 113% and I've put +100mV voltage.

    Cpu : Ghz, Asus Maximus XII formula, 32Gb DDR4 3600C16 and 3080Ti FTW3 Ultra.

    Thank you

Some bios versions let the fan go 0%.  Maybe the normal FTW3 switch.  I run fans all the time, they are super quiet locked at ~800 rpm.

If you use the "Fan Control" freeware you can easily tune the acoustic profile of your machine.

It's fine to flip the bios switch with the machine running.  Won't do anything (until reboot).
