Hello, wrote to support about this but only got this answer : Thank you for contacting Technical Support, and sorry to hear you have issues with Fan of the Graphics card. Please find one of the Stable BIOS available for this Graphics card. and let us know the results after updating the BIOS. Regards
Answered that about a week ago and got no answer since then, so i would like to know if anyone who had this issue found a fix because i'm getting tired of my GPU randomly ramping up to VERY loud levels every 10 seconds. I did try to "find" a stable bios. I got one from here and updated to a seemingly older version (or i most likely just don't understand bios versions), going from 94.02.26.80.70 to 94.02.26.48.68 and that did nothing. Here is exactly what i wrote to support : My GPU fans keep ramping up and down to REALLY loud levels nearly all the time they are under load, like they are trying to take off. When i open precision software the indicators are off the charts which signals something is wrong ( look attached image). looked on the net and your forums and it seems many had this issue which sometimes led to the card dieing so i would like to have your input before that happens (though right now the issue is how annoyingly loud the card gets) or get this one replaced. Precision software version : v1.1.7 Fimrware : 2.01.18 BIOS version : 94.02.26.80.70 Display driver : 461.40
Edit : The card is a 3080 ftw ultra

I think what tech support meant was, not to flash another BIOS as you could damage the GPU if a wrong one is selected but to use the BIOS switch on your 3080 FTW3 ULTRA. I would go back to the original BIOS and either switch the BIOS or create a custom fan curve. Clearly your temps are hitting a threshold in the 50c area that is triggering these ramp ups. You could run a custom curve to not allow the GPU to hit that threshold but slightly running the fans a tad higher. Give us a little more info on your specs and case used, case location, fan orientation, etc. Could be just bad air flow and or high ambient temps.

Hi, I Built the computer last december Case : meshify 2 Mobo : b550 strix f gaming wifi cpu : ryzen 5600x cooled with arctic liquid freezer II ram : 16gbx2 trident Z 3600 mhz cl 17 PSU : 750 NZXT I did try to create a custom fan curve and switched between all the presets but nothing changed this behaviour. As for temps places are still quite cool here in France with my CPU staying at around 52~62 c under load. only the GPU ramps up to 71 or 81 c Never tried switching the bios switch as i didn't want to play around with higher power limits or any other overclocking tool since the gains when overclocking a 3080 ftw aren't worth the hassle or higher power usage imo. I don't understand how that could help with the fans ramping up, but i guess i have nothing to lose by trying, i'll keep you posted.

Updated my computer's BIOS to lastest beta version (2006), enabled resizable bar and had the option to update the 3080's firmware through precision but nothing changed, still ramping up and down while being noisy as hell. Also switched to OC bios, did nothing for my issue.

Have you considered getting the card replaced via warranty?

I was hoping to hear from support before going through the hassle but it's been a week since i had any reply to my inquiry so i might as well do so. I figured as i would be going back and fort with the support we would come to the process of RMA if everything else failed, though at this pace i would have to wait a year before we reach that point it seems

Have you tried running it without EVGA Precision? I doubt this is the issue, but I've heard of Afterburner causing an interruption with fans from newer GeForce cards. It's just one thing you can mark off a list.

Yes, ran it without precision as i never used the software appart from minor rgb tweaks before all this started. I've been approved for RMA so i should be getting another one to test soon, might as well keep you guys posted on the issue.

Helo everyone, got a new 3080 through RMA and things are much better. First of all the fans don't ramp up anymore but i'll test it for a few more days to make sure. Also the temps are much better, i used to be around 73c~83c but now i hardly go above 72c.

I'm actually quite glad to hear this. It shows a company standing behind it's products. With how expensive and scarce cards are these days I'm glad you have this resolved and are now on your merry way to whatever games you play!

Glad to hear it was sorted. Leaf-blower level fans are never a fun problem to have. More evidence of the good customer service from EVGA at least

Well enjoy your card. Good you finally get that sorted. Yea heard that the EVGA cards are more prone to issues but if you manage to get it replaced everything should work out in time.
