I booted up my computer and out of the blue the fans on my 3080 FTW3 are running at max RPM.  I had been using Precision X1.  I was notified of an update, but the update hung at removing the old X1.  I tried to take over fan control with Afterburner and it could not manage the fans.  I tried to control the fans with Argus Monitor and it too failed to control the fans.  I could not find Precision X1 in my applications so I could not do a controlled removal.  I manually deleted files in the EVGA folders in program files and program files (x86) and also removed EVGA references in the Registry.  I reboot and the fans are still running max RPM which does not surprise me if the fan curve is now in the GPU's firmware settings.  This just happened out of the blue and I have no idea why, or how I can address it.  I'm going to try to install the updated version of X1 and hope it does not try to uninstall what's no longer there.  After that, all I can do is remove the GPU and slot in a 2070 super card to see if that quiets things down.  If it does, I'll re-install the 3080, but I have every expectation that it will still run with fans @ max if I cannot get to the saved fan curve.

I installed the latest X1, and note that one fan(3) is running at max RPM, the other two are 0 RPM, and ICX only shows the GPU1 temperature.  All other sensors show 0.  The fan curves are linked.  Looks like the card's coming out...  Well, the card came out.  Nothing blocking fans.  I've got the computer on its side so I can watch the fans.  Fan3 can be manually controlled, fans 1 and 2 run at max RPM no matter what the slider says.  ICX still shows only GPU temp.  The new X1 is installed, so I'll look for firmware update.  If that's not happening, then yeah, I've got a support ticket to fill out, yummy...

I'd greatly appreciate any guidance from the forum.  This is a sudden issue and I have no idea how it could have happened.  I made quite sure it's the GPU fans running and not the case and heatsink fans.  I'm just dumbfounded...

The MCU firmware update appears to have failed. Try reinstalling precision and hopefully it gives you the option to retry a firmware update.
If you have no luck, contact EVGA and see what solution they have.

I believe there is a BIOS switch on the GPU, did you try the switch in the other position?
Reboot with fast boot off in the MB BIOS and the cards switch moved over.

Switching the BIOS doesn't switch the MCU firmware (iCX stuff).

Yeah, it made no difference.  VBIOS is 94.02.85.40.0A with switch in left position (towards rear of computer) and the 0A turns into 16 when the switch is moved to the front of the computer.  X1 tells me the VBIOS is up to date so I cannot force an update through X1.  I already made sure that CSM is defeated and fastboot is off.  Fan behavior is unchanged with Fan3 being able to be manually controlled with Fans 1&2 running at max no matter what setting, fans not sync'd of course, and ICX only shows GPU temp.  The card is dead.  Well, let's see how this gets handled...

ok so far can you install back the 1.28 version of PX1 and click on Information right after the version number bottom right of PX1?

I'm having the exact same issue with EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3. Fan 1 and 2 are unresponsive with a 0RPM and 0%. Fan 3 can be controlled but left on auto, it will stay ramped at 100%.

Doesn't sound like the exact same issue. Your issue sounds like a bad firmware flash or fan controller failure.

Sorry, I meant to say mine is doing this exact same thing. VBIOS up to date, fastboot off. Fan 3 can be manually controlled but fans 1 and 2 running at max no matter what setting. ICX only showing GPU temp.

Sounds like a MCU firmware issue to me. Have you asked EVGA?

I engaged EVGA support and they issued RMA.  I received a replacement and it is functioning wholly as expected.  Precision X1 shows ICE properly and the fans operate properly, but setup options do not save.  I'll reinstall Precision and see what happens.  This time, I've made sure an ASRock sound utility is not installed before re-installing Precision.  The last time I tried this, the install process hung on a shared dll which made a complete mess of things.
