Like the title says.  I have spoken to my bud Kram36 already about this mainly because he owns a 3080 Ti XC3.  
 
My dilemma is: Im in the queue for a 3080 Ti XC3 (3953) $1199.  I scored a 3080 FTW3 Ultra (3897KL) $899 on a Newegg shuffle today.  It is on its way as we speak.  I'm wondering about the performance difference between these two cards.  I was pretty dead set on keeping the 3080 ftw3 today until I started debating on if the 3080 TI XC3 is $350 better than the 3080 FTW3?  
 
Ti has more memory, 384 bit memory interface compared to 320 bit, The one thing Im not thrilled about is that the Ti xc versions are pretty slim and don't look thick like any of the FTW version cards.  I have a 2080 super FTW and its thick.  
The Ti does only take two 8 pins which is nice also.  The power on the Ti is higher at 350 watts compared to 320 on the FTW.  
 
I play at 1440p only, no 4k.  I can definitely get what I paid for my 2080 super back, so there's that. Just mainly concerned if the price difference is warrantied to get 7-8fps?  Im not sure about those numbers, but did go watch some youtube game benchmarks. 3080 vs 3080TI vs 3090.
 
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially if you own either of these cards or both.
 
This review opened my eyes to the 4-15 fps in only certain titles at 1440p.  Most titles were less 5fps between a 3080 Ti FTW vs a 3080.

The 3080ti is just nvidia's way of making more money. If you're asking the question of whether the price increase is worth it, then the answer is an automatic no. The card is only 'worth it' if you can spend $1199 without worrying about the fact that you spent $1199.
 
By overclocking the 3080, you can get fairly close to the performance of a stock 3080ti and save money as well.

personally id say no since you are going to have a 3080 in hand already and the performance is very small. the xc3 cooler will defintely not do amazing with the 80ti ftw3. id personally keep the 3080 unless you had someone lined up to by it localy or something and just wanted to yolo it. but if you have something you could spend the extra money on or just keep it for a future upgrade it would probably serve you much better reasonably thinking 

Seem consensus is keep the 3080 ftw3 ultra over the 3080 ti xc3

I think this will be a definite step up from my 2080 super ftw3. 1440p will run much better. More horsepower

Definitely the price to performance just isn't there -reviewers all agree. ,.... BUT if you feel differently after 89 days - jump into the STep-Up line for a 3080Ti FTW Ultra or the 3090 

I have a 3080 Ti (EVGA FTW3 Ultra HC) and I bought it for reasons that have nothing to do with performance vs a 3080 as I already had a Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080 that I put on a waterblock. I can say that performance in real life is not noticeably different, I am also a 1440p gamer. My Timespy and Port Royal scores have gone up, but where I could go +1300 on VRAM on my 3080 I cannot go above +600 on my 3080 Ti. This is just me losing the silicon lottery on the VRAM and I'm sad but just a little. No big deal.
 
For what it's worth I think I'm going to enter the step-up for the RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra HC as soon as possible. The 3080 Ti is fine, but it's just fine. It's not going to get you anywhere you couldn't have gotten to with a 3080.

Thank you guys. Making money back plus a little to pay for the upgrade makes sense. But honestly I think tixc3 is a small upgrade compared to going to a 3080 ti ftw, would you agree.

Had a 3080 XC3 Ultra and upgraded to 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra - only made sense cause of crazy used prices and I sold the 3080 used near the absolute peak too...  all worked out for a free upgrade but if you're paying the difference out of pocket it doesn't make sense.  1440p and going from 366W power budget max to 450W power budget max - yeah I bench higher but its not the difference you can really tell in game.
 
Depending on what you can sell off the 3080 for when your turn comes for the Ti, it might still be reasonably cheap of an upgrade to just do it anyway.  Guessing you probably got an LHR 3080 so the used value does drop some, plus factor in fees if you're selling online, etc.

Now let me ask this with all the movement today and yesterday on the 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA. I was almost 30 minutes away now it's getting closer and closer.

Would you guys say the 3080 versus the 3080TI ftw 3 ultra would definitely be a step up and worth the extra money? I would pass on the 3080 ti xc3.

1399 vs 899 performance. I have evga bucks too to make up close to $200 of it, but if it holds off long enough, $300.

True. As of now I have 165. 13 seconds away. I doubt it holds off 13 more days to let me get the other bucks owed to me. 259

If nobody makes you an offer on the 3080 FTW3, call Newegg about refusing the delivery and make sure they will not charge you a return fee.

With OC bios the FTW3 Ultra Ti model is basically equivalent to a FE 3090 and runs a lot cooler since memory is not hitting 100C.

Now I'm revisiting this.
