Picture speaks a thousand words I guess.  First time with an AIO type cooler.. Just paraniod that the heat of card might do something to the Cooler Water Lines to CPU.  Choose this front setup because I wanted to keep a positive flow with air coming in front with two fans on cooler + extra fan below it blowing in, and 2 exhaust.  Card really is a heater when playing games. LOL..  Anyway post the picture in a bit.

If there's room for it, I'd strongly recommend mounting the radiator on the top and blowing out - helps stops air bubbles getting into the pump/cpu block which may cause increased wear, noise, and inadequate cooling. Just make sure you have good airflow from front to back because of the heat from the GPU.

    Nice card btw.

The backplate touching it doesn't matter at all, the backplate on the FTW3 Ultra is pretty much cosmetic/support and nothing more, there's no thermal pads making it an actual heat-spreading backplate effectively.

Even if there was, the areas tubing would typically touch are not going to be the hottest areas of the card.  If it were touching right at the backside of the VRMs or GPU, then I'd be minorly concerned... but keep in mind, most AIOs are designed with tubing that can handle liquid temps in the 50+ celsius range without having any permeation/melting issues.  The likelihood of something that's actually touching a tube getting that warm is pretty low.

Edit: And in the case of your AIO (and mine for that matter) the tubing itself is protected by the braided sleeve, so you'd smell "something burning" long before any actual damage to the AIO was done, if something did occur... scary to think about, but it's true lol

My understanding is that Malkuth74 is doing it correctly: you want the tubes originating from the bottom of the radiator and you want the top of the radiator higher than the height of the pump.  Looks good.

Nice computers builds they look really good,.
As for the Radiator hose it will be fine across the backplate of the GPU, I have ran quit a few systems this way in the past because the hoses have slack in them from being in a midtower case. As for air in the AIO pump, as long as you have good positive displacement and good top head pressure you will be fine in a closed loop system. Small air pockets will develop in Closed loop, but as long as your pump isn't cavitating from air or making slurping noises you should be fine. Air pockets bring friction and heat which destroys the pump seals and parts.

Thanks for sharing your builds, they are really 😎.

Barbs at the top is OK too. Steve said himself, it may shorten the 6 year life by a year. But its not going to cause any serious issues.

If you don't want it top mounted, I'd just flip the rad.

I've ran it that way for a year or so, and zero issues or noises relating to it.
I wouldn't want my cpu, being cooled by the over like air the 3080 dumps out 😂

Everything seems fine, I have not had any noises at all from the pump.  In fact I sometimes check the lines to actually see If I can feel water moving through, it very silent.. lol.
Anyway I have my 8700k OC to 4.7 Ghz and running about 34-36 C idle.. And while playing VR games or MSFS its only getting to about 55-60 C.  With stress test Aida64 my CPU sits around 76-81 C... But I have not seen those type temps in any game yet.

The FTW on the other hand is usually around 32-38 C Idle and while playing games it takes off into the 68-76 C range.. lol.

Mines sat at 27 C on both CPU and GPU idle as I type this.
Games CPU is around 45-50, GPU is 60-65.
