I tried hooking up a 2nd monitor to my rtx-3070ti using a display port cable and it didn't not make my desktop  picture.Even the original monitor went black. No desktop, and no sound. I rebooted the computer several times.  I changed to different display ports, no help. Tried the hdmi port but the hdmi cable didn't seem to fit the port correctly.  I reinstalled a Nvidia new driver- twice-no help. I changed the display port cable. I changed the port on the monitor (which is a 43 inch tv).  Then I went into the control panel and went to 1080  p resolution.  No desktop, and no sound.  It even makes the original monitor go black screen.

I don't know anything about bios updating because there is a lot of terminology and computer know how that I just don't understand.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Try contacting support sounds those issues are gpu hardware related. Sounds you taken step to make sure it was not a minor issue driver related or else.

Their reply: Please let us know the length of the cable as anything over 6 feet may have issues. Can you confirm this is a vesa certified displayport cable? Do you have access to another system to test the card with in order to fully verify it has failed? Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns in order to support you further.

    Me:
I have never heard the term "VESA certified" and it is not on the box that the video card shipped in. And it is not shown on your web advertisement for the RTX-3070! I haven't seen the term anywhere.  Problems with cables over 6 feet?  Wow. Mine are 10 feet long.  Makes me think that this video card is only for people who reside in very small rooms.

Yes, because he's talking about the cable being certified not the GPU. If you're using Display Port cables over 6' you're more likely to run into issue. If you must, make sure the cables you purchase are VESA certified. This applies universally not just to your GPU. I've no idea why the HDMI cable won't fit. Are you sure part of the case is not blocking any of the display ports on the GPU?

Well, I just ordered up 2 of those 6 foot VESA  DP cables. So,in about 6 days I will try the hook-up again.  Thanks for the replies.
kswildman, how many monitors are you running?  Because my 3070 does just fine with 'one' monitor.

yes, it appears so.  Oh, I have been using the hdmi port on the video card to feed my PC  output to my AV receiver and that works too.  Quality of cables had to be the problem.  Thanks.
