So I just got my new 3070 Ti and when I put it in and booted, I automatically got a firmware update...and when it started, the fans IMMEDIATELY went to full speed and scared the crap out of me....then it went back to silent.   Ok...don't give me a heart attack like that EVGA!!!

But as soon as I turned on one of the only games I am playing lately....namely DayZ, as soon as I got past the loading screen and into the game, the fans almost immediately spun up.  Not like the firmware update, but loud enough to sound like a small vacuum.   Is there a way to set these fans to silent operation?   I mainly game at night when the wife goes to sleep, and I can already tell you, this won't fly.

Yeah, it almost gave me a heart attack too !

I have same problem, fans are loud ! especially the 3rd fan !
I was going to do a rma, but re-installed x1 and tinkered with the fan curves
I found the 1st fan good even at 100% , middle fan ok @ 100% but does make some noise,
the 3rd fan even at 70% is very loud !

So, I just used the pre generated fan curves and set it to stealth and that runs all benchmarks and games quiet, even when gpu temp hits 76 C ... because I lowered the #3 fans rpm a little also

Still seems like a faulty #3 fan...

I still don't even know how to set the fan curve...not a lot of instructions on how to do so.

I just had DayZ running, and was on for barely 3 minutes when the fans, or maybe just one fan, just suddenly went into 747 jet engine mode...I can't deal with that!   I use my PC for work as well as gaming, and I need to fix this now.   And I cannot for the life of me figure out why the fans or fan is speeding and ramping up when I am doing absolutely nothing and I am just sitting at the Windows desktop.

I figured out how to use the X1 software to set the fans on "Stealth".....but they are still very much not stealthy at all, so any help in getting these fans to be in some sort of silent mode would be great.

so, you are on normal bios ? or oc bios ? that is a difference on fan speeds at temps below 55 degrees C... normal bios switch fans come on around 55 C with default settings...

I'm just learning about x1 also, so you probably know as much as me !

I 'unlinked' the fans in x1 then set each fan one at a time to xx% speed and
then hit apply , just to hear how loud each fan is... so, you can listen and experiment
on what each fans noise level is .

You can then link them back up at test all 3 at same time ...
If you put the software on stealth and it was loud , how about trying quiet mode ?

Which fan is the culprit on noise ?? same as mine ? #3 ??

Are you monitoring temps when you game ? say with HWmonitor ? or HWinfo64 ? both

If you want to reduce thermal load and fan speed, try "undervolting"... or FLVOC (Fixed Low Voltage OverClocking).  Combine that with a power limit.  Also try a frame cap in your game.

Fitted mine yesterday and set the fans to quite mode and linked the fans as well. Running A-OK and fans are not so to noisy. Fab GPU BTW.

yeah, seems like 'quiet mode' is easiest way to keep card quiet with x1 ... especially if
you don't know much about x1 software...
