So, I've had issues with precision x1 the entire time I've had my card. A reload always fixed them though. So this reload I didn't install px1. Gamed without a single error or issue for a few days. Decided to give it one last go and try to figure out the issues that may arise with support. Well, immediately I could no longer run a game for more then 30 minutes without a crash and even some hard resets. Never began to try to OC again, just testing the waters with precision installed. Eventually it was even happening on desktop. Went for the reload again. Now as soon as I install a display driver I get tearing and then the space invaders screen on reboot as I go to log in.
Talked with support, began the rma process. They believe I likely had a bad card the entire time and precision was just making it show. I have been building for over 10 years now, and I just have a hard time in believing such coincidence. I just wanted to hear other's experience/opinions on the timing. Feels so weird to me.

And now it's up and running again. In 10+ years of building and over a year in professional IT working for a managed service provider overseeing 10k+ units this is the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

Any input. Even theories would be deeply appreciated. I have never felt so baffled by an issue

I would still RMA that thing. That should not have happened.

I most likely am. This is all just so weird, and even tech support is confused by how it's presenting. I'm just hoping the new card somehow remains stable with precision running so I can actually overclock the dang thing.

This just feels so much like it's more a software issue but nobody else is having this kind of issue.

It needs RMA m8. If you search "space Invader artifacts" you will see. It affects all RTX cards and not just 2080Ti Founders. I own RTX 2070 (coz im poor) and I am having the EXACT same issue as yourself and many others.

I am currently assuring EVGA that it is not my HDMI cable, Not my PSU, Not my RAM uuuuurrrrggghhhhhhhhhh. JUST GIVE ME A REPLACEMENT! Ive been on this gravy train for over a week now with a £500 brick sitting in front of me.

Have a little zoom on my image and if you have ever seen those little space invaders just start the RMA. It will keep coming back at very random times, sometimes more severe, sometimes less often. Can happen on login screen or on desktop or when playing games. It does not require stress or higher temps to occur.

Sooner board partners and Nvidia admit this common fault the sooner customers will not need to go through endless steps assuring them that their products are borked.

I have had my whole holiday period on IntelHD (can you imagine)

    Thanks guys.

Yes, you have a bad card. RMA it. One of my 2080Ti XC Ultras did the same thing and even had stranger issues with my system. Once I got the artifacting I knew what the issue was.

Agree with Darth. If you see the invaders, RMA the card. My 2070 had the issue and got a refund. Throwing the dice with a 2080 now.

Thanks guys, guess it just presents oddly on these new cards. Those are indeed the space invaders I saw.
