Curious if anyone has used EVGA's 2 slot bracket to vertically mount their 2.75 slot GPU while maintaining the stock cooling solution.
I was under the impression it would work fine, however today for the first time saw a review on ebay suggesting this is a bad idea. Anyone on here try this in the wild yet?
Components in question: RTX 2070 XC Ultra, CableMod Vertical PCI-e bracket.
I've got the vertical bracket, and riser card already, but cannot use the standard 2.75 slot GPU bracket to attach to the vertical mount. Help?

It will not Install and Support the Graphics Card with the Stock Cooler ONLY for use with a Water Block.

Other have tried it and even bought them and then complained that the could not installed on their Graphics Cards.

I wouldn't even try on a 2.75 slot since the cooler on the 2070 XC Ultra is a beast and I would worry about the weight.

While bcavnaugh is 100% correct in that the 2 slot bracket won't mount right up to a card with 3 slot cooling solution (I found this out the hard way), you can easily modify the 2 slot bracket to work for vertical mounting. I've done it. You just have to dremel off the top ledge of the 2 slot bracket. After doing so, it will mount without issues. See below. Modified version on the right. Once installed it looks perfectly clean and you can't see any of the dremeled area.

That is interesting.. I just bought the 2 slot bracket for my ftw3 ultra and was super disappointed to see that it wouldn't mount correctly without taking the card apart -- and even then, this lip would prevent it from mounting properly because of the monster stock air cooler.
How sturdy do you find that setup to be? Do you think the dremel'd 2 slot bracket mounted vertically is solid enough to support it for the long term?

The 2 slot bracket can work just fine without chopping it up. You just have to tear apart the card, remove the L-bracket attached to the mid plate and remove the bottom left corner screw of the fan shroud.
The main interference is the little lip shown in the pictures and removing that shroud screw gives it enough play to clear the lip.

I have done it and mounted my 2080ti FTW3 Ultra vertically without tearing the card apart, just like snowarmy said. It works perfectly but you need to dremel off the edge of the bracket (i took it to a professional shop and they did it for me) , I think its better than removing the mid-plate cause if you decide to mount horizontally again and reinstall the 2.75 u dont have to take it apart again.
I have a thermaltake view71 case and mounting it vertically increased my temps by 5-10 degrees at times, so i decided to mount horizontally eventually.

I just dremeled the lip off of the 2 slot bracket and it was not hard at all. I got the EZ Lock mandrel and the metal cutting wheel at my local hardware store. It took about 5 mins. (use gloves and safety glasses, sparks will fly).
Installed in my Lian Li o11 dynamic with the cablemod vertical kit and it looks great! (I had to use that kit because the cooler master one didn't give enough clearance for my corsair vengeance rgb ram)
Thanks to the info in this thread that helped me pull it off. It will be easy to swap the 3 slot plat back on if I ever need to send my card in for a warranty claim.

Hm, guys, did you tried to mount 3slot card into 2slot space? I am watching this picture and my case and don't see any issues...:

So yes, there is options where you cannot fit 3slot card like this one:  but also many options to do so even as planned:  So I think you should first to try solve this task without cutting bracket and ruining warranty :)

No, It works on the 3 slot. There is a removable bracket attached to the baseplate for the three slot cooler. Removing that bracket allows the 2 slot to mount without modification. The two slot is meant for replacing the 3 slot bracket, and works with the air cooler as well. I am looking for the link from EVGA showing that it works now. This is the bracket that needs to be removed:
