I appreciate your sense of humor. EVGA continues to display an utter lack of credibility when it comes to this product and it's release date. I thought you might be subtly applying for a position since you were displaying the necessary skill set they promote.

I just have to say that I too am pretty frustrated about the lack of availability info in general. I built a new system recently and turned to new EVGA parts since I have products from them that are holding up for more than a decade in use.

But just look at this: the motherboard I wanted to get (EVGA Z270 Stinger) has been MIA for months and is still not available:

EVGATech_JeffP
We do not have estimates on when products will be back in stock. The Notify system will alert those who sign up when the product is back in stock and available. If it is out of stock after notification you will have to sign up for notification again.

Now we have no word on when these coolers come out or how many will even be made available. We have to piece this together from scraps of info posted on this thread and allegedly on Twitter:
EVGA_JacobF
because it is a small run and not normal volume QTY

To me a forum like this is to engage customers directly with helpful information. Instead we just have people insulting each other over a watercooler and no concise info from EVGA. I also don't trust the "Auto Notify" whatsoever (no email confirmation that you've even been signed up? Will I even get an email if it launches?) and now there's even threats of scalpers? No idea what I got myself into here.

Scalpers are in business because people out there who have to have their item yesterday will pay $1200 for a $700 GPU and will likely pay at least $300 for this $159 GPU cooler.

No buyers, no market.

After reading all the impatience in this thread anyone wanna bet on how many will buy from scalpers?  LOL

Yeah, so if you already have one of these coolers, just use that. I'm installing the one from my 1070 later today.

Re: 1080 Ti Hybrid kit released. 2017/04/04 10:28:54 (permalink)
I've always heard great things about EVGA.

The brand is why I kept my EVGA Ti FE over the Nvidia FE I ordered.

They genuinely seem like company that cares with the amount that techs and mods post on this forum.

Situations like this aren't encouraging. I can understand the $120 price was an error, but then changed it to $180 and then dropped it to $160 after the backlash. It's hard to see a scenario where it wasn't clear price gouging because they know they can. They are a business and they exist to make money, but as an act of good faith, it would have been best to honor that $120 price whether it was a mistake or not.

At the end of the day, a $40 difference isn't a big deal to most people spending $700 or more on a video card. They aren't going to be selling millions of these things. That extra $40 couldn't be making that much difference to their bottom line.

On top of everything, we are kept in the dark about the actual release. It's not fun playing the waiting game with absolutely no knowledge of when the product will actually be available for sale. They have to know at this point. Maybe it's their way of rewarding people who are constantly checking the forum, but not everyone can do that.

I'm still down for one if I can get an order in (couldn't get an FE from EVGA direct), but this hasn't been a great start to my relationship with EVGA.

If they're charging $160 for this, that is indeed price gouging. If I needed to buy this, there's no way I will spend more than $120.

Unfortunately, there are those diehard EVGA fans that will just throw money at them no matter what. Rather than speaking with their wallets.

Still nothing? Not even another twitter post from EVGA saying they got the stock in and they'll be going on sell soon? Like, last thing we heard is shipment was coming in Friday/Monday, yet still silence on something that's been worked on for a year.

Yet EVGA's competitors are already shipping their hybrid cards... wish they also sold the kits, meh.

People ARE speaking with their wallets, it has nothing to do with being a hardcore EVGA fan. It's more expensive to do a custom water loop plus building and maintenance, yet currently EVGA is the only one really offering the kit separately. There really aren't that many other options... I promise you if someone like, say, MSI suddenly released a hybrid kit right this second most of us would jump ship with little more than a laugh in farewell.

EVGA_JacobF said on twitter possibly either today or tomorrow. Kinda baffling that the Product Manager has no idea when their stuff will go on sale...

I'll pay $160 for it... because $40 isn't that big of a deal to me.  I wouldn't call myself a die hard EVGA fan though... I built my PC a month ago and went with EVGA for the GPU and PSU based off word of mouth regarding their great customer service.

I'm really not impressed with how this hybrid thing is panning out which is offset by the fact the 1080 ==> 1080 Ti step up was very smooth.

Walmart is a place I haven't set foot in in 5 years because I got tired of standing in line for 40 minutes to check out... EVGA hasn't made it that far down the list just yet... we'll see what happens with the hybrid kit.

The heck kind of Walmart do you go to? I live in PORTLAND and even waiting in line takes 10 min max; half the time I just use self check out. But I agree with you, it's still cheaper and less work than going custom cooling so I'm not shedding tears over $40.

In what why do you mean? I had them on a 980ti for a bit then the 1080 I had before stepup without a single issue. In fact, they were the reasons why I decided to stick with AIOs since it was a pleasant break from the custom loop phase I went through lmao.

Good mixture between performance and ease.

I've had some bad experiences with the Super Walmarts around here.  You go in and fill up a cart full of stuff then get up to the front and the 4-6 self checkouts all have a dozen people in line and you have maybe 2 employee manned registers open with even more people in those lines.

I just got to the point where I was fed up and quit going.  Sure I could go to to Walmart at 2am and it would be OK but meh...  I do shop at Sam's Club but I avoid Walmart like the plague.  The one here locally is just horrible.

We already have enough fake news in the real world, so the last thing we need is to have it in the forums

The AiO coolers used on the EVGA and MSI cards are essentially 'one-offs' and are of the exact same design as the CPU AiO coolers.  The biggest failure rate involved is the pumps can fail.  It becomes evident with high GPU temps and the sound of the pump grinding.

Just because you have the extra $40 to buy it at $160 doesn't mean it's not price gouging.

Though, you are right. If EVGA are the only ones offering a product that's in demand, they get to set the price at wherever they choose.

Well.. looks like they are gonna hang us out to dry for another day at least.

Where do you live? I agree with you just because I'm pessimistic, but it's only noon for EVGA so meh it may still go on sale I guess. I wish communication was a bit better.

I'm in Utah..

I really just want to free myself from my PC because its so nice outside today.

I guess I could refresh my Android every few minutes but you know how that can drive one crazy.

My PC has been in sleep mode since Sunday night... went to bed at 9pm and then worked 6am-10pm yesterday and came home and went straight to bed after a shower.  Back at work at 6am to do some more...

I really wanna be as hardcore as some of you guys but work isn't cooperating right now.

At least I can still access the hybrid product page from work...
