Not sure what to do.

SCAN.CO.UK, has the GTX 1080 Ti MSI SeaHawk X priced at £899.99,stock showing item overdue since 03 April 2017, so could be any day now.
If I was to go for an EVGA FE + Hybrid Cooler, the total price would by £860, but no EU release date on the Ti Hybrid cooler.

Also now that we have send the specs of the FE also the FTW cards. Gaming at 1440p 165hz, I7 7700k, How big of an overclock/FPS would I get with the FTW card?. I have been waiting for the FTW Hybrid announcement/release date, but not sure if its worth it for basic overclocking.

Anything higher then 2000mhz is probably negligible as far as fps  increase. From what I notice the most performance increase is from 1600 to 2000.

You looking about 10-15fps increase (best case) going  from 2000-2100 on a Ti that is pretty significant

Good to know...

I saw an increase from 21,025 to 22,747 in Firestrike benchmark... thinking I can do more with hybrid kit.

Scores are irrelevant what was frame increase? Post graph before/after comparison.

10-15fps gain for a 100mhz increase seems very high. But if this correct I would be willing to pay a bit extra to get a *Binned GPU* that can hit 2100mhz.

But from my understanding, due to the Silicon Lottery,  even if you buy a FE + Waterblock, FTW3, Hybrid, or Seahawk x, you may never get close to 2100mhz

apparently with gp102 its more about the power limit, also you can flash a higher tdp bios on a FE card and it will do just fine. do your research and consider the risk you are taking tho ^^ everything will be smoother and higher on water, thats for sure.

Thinking about putting a 3 pin y-splitter in-between the card and rad from the kit and adding a second fan to make a push/pull on the radiator. My question is, after installing the hybrid kit the card will be running the squirrel cage fan, and the rad fan, will adding another fan to the circuit be too much?

Fan I was thinking of adding is a Phanteks 120mm F120SP, pulling .08 A and .96 W.

Based on past releases of hybrid kits, like the 1080 how often did they become available to buy directly following release and being sold out?

I'd just replace the fan and call it a day... I know it's a debate raging from the dawn of time, but consistent tests have shown push/pull to be largely pointless unless you count a 1-2 degree variance SOME of the time as crucially essential. Of course, it's not like you're spending 100 bucks to do it, so I suppose there's not real wrong here...

Changing the default fan though should be a go-to, even if just for noise management.

They pulled the PDF of the 1080 FE hybrid installation guide from the EVGA website, but you can find it online at other places. The main difference is the size of the thermal pads and where you put them.  Instead of single individual pads they have moved to 4 large thermal pads to cover the same areas as listed for both the 1080 and 1080Ti(over the VRMs and VRAM).  There are 2 smaller thermal pads that have been added to the 1080Ti's PDF . Aside from that, the instructions are identical.   Not sure that qualifies for such a huge increase in price for the kit. I'm waiting for a 1080TI FTW hybrid kit, so let's see.

not sure if this can be done through the vga, but i will be connecting the rad fan to the motherboard and set a curve there. should have no issues with a splitter that way, not sure about taking power from the vga.

I can't run this card on air. It gets way too hot and too loud if I turn the fans up. I desperately need water cooling. I really hope someone can help me out here.

I spent a few hours Saturday benchmarking and OCing and even with a +160 +180 OC the card never got above 60C during any benchmark or stress test.

Sure, the fans were at 100% but it didn't really bother me and this was without headphones.  Putting them on made the fan noise a non-issue.

I still snagged a hybrid yesterday but I honestly think the card would be fine without... just takes some getting used to.

Good luck getting your hybrid kit.

If the fan header is located on the GPU's PCB, I would be very careful as you should first find out what the headers specs are first or you could risk damaging the header.  As someone already stated, if you use the fan header on the MB, you should be good to go.  Most MB fan headers have a 1 amp max limit.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

Fine for us sure....  Juust this morning my Wife was like "What the *bleep* is wrong with your computer?" "What's that freaking noise?!?!  It's so annoying!!"  My previous 980ti was under water and now my 1080 ti FE is blowing hard.  It's worth every penny to me for a hybrid kit to not have to listen to complaints lol.  Not having to listen to the fan is just a bonus!

Are the pump/radiator models the same across all 3 variants of the hybrid cooler (shroud not included)?

Stock availability is limited in Australia across the 5188/5288 models and I'll grab whichever one I can add I just want the pump/radiator module if they're the same.

Re: 1080 Ti Hybrid kit released. 2017/04/05 20:13:41 (permalink)
So I got the "in stock" email and figured I'd give it a whirl. Was lucky enough to get the order in, and a package was there when I got home today so I spent about an hour or so hooking it up. Installation is fairly straightforward, though it does take a lot of different bits to handle the various screws and such. A really good toolkit is an absolute must. One thing I found a bit surprising was that the "shell" of the shroud (the top cover part, not the part that attaches directly to the card and has the thermal pads) felt as flimsy as it did.

Mounted the rad to the rear of my case (Fractal Design Define Mini C) with 2 Corsair ML120s in push/pull attached to the mobo and a speedfan profile. Running with +160 on the clock, benchmarking it the temps never went above 54C, and the fans I think barely crack 1000 or 1100 RPM. Right now it's sitting pretty solid at 28C idle, with the ambient room temperature being 25C, so from a performance standpoint this baby is spot on.

The one real downside is that the kit is NOISY. There's a major buzzing sound coming from the pump, loud enough that it can be heard in the next room. Notably louder than my Corsair H100i v2 even on Performance setting. Honestly the pump from my first watercooling setup way back in the day, an Eheim 1250 aquarium pump sitting on a 1/2" vibration dampening foam pad, was quieter than this. I've already got a ping out to EVGA on it but given that this is my second experience with an EVGA Hybrid Kit having this issue (the first exhibiting a similar buzzing but not as loud and at a different pitch), I think that means stepping up to a custom loop setup. Sad, as I've dealt with at least 6  Corsair AIOs (H50, three H60a, H100i v2, and an H110 that I recall) without a single hitch.

I'd tend to agree that something isn't right! :) This is a video from someone who had a 1080 Hybrid, and it's very, very close to what I hear from about 4-5 feet away from the unit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo6Jny3fj9k

I expect that there's going to be some level of noise coming from the device as it's an electrical pump, but that sounds rather excessive to me. I guess I'll see what EVGA says and go from there.

Got my Hybrid kit installed tonight. Literally ordered the cooler yesterday, and it was at my doorstep this afternoon. Evga doesn't mess around with shipping. Install was completely seamless, and straight forward. Temps are topping out at only 45C now under full load. I love it. It's so cool and quiet now. Furthest I can push the card is +200mhz on the core, and it tops out at 2100mhz. Any further than that and it crashes.

It's a 2 pin fan. I disconnected it completely and tucked the wire inside the shroud. I'm running my Corsair ML series fans off a motherboard fan header instead.

Great setup!  Just out of curiosity, that's a full tower case, right?  Do you think the hoses would reach all the to the front of the case to mount the Radiator and fans there?  I will have a SLI setup and I am still torn which way I will mount the two radiators for the two 1080 Ti's.  I have a H115i for the CPU mounted to the top of the case.  I also have 2 120mm fans mounted in the floor like you have and I am considering putting one where you have yours mounted, and the other in the floor if the front is a no go.  Also, do you have a X99 or Skylake/Cabylake board?  I have X99 so I have memory modules on both sides of the cpu, seeing that the ML140 that's mounted there now has no issues, I am assuming mounting two fans and a radiator there should be fine too.  Lastly, where did you get the screws to be able to do the push pull configuration?  I doubt they were included in the kit, so I might have to take one to the hardware store and find something that will fit.

Nice! I got mine installed too and I topped out at 49c with the fan at 60%.

Really impressed with the work the EVGA guys did on this kit.

I got a Corsair bracket on my 980ti and its the biggest piece of junk ever so this is a breathe of fresh air for me.

Also, I thought we weren't supposed to install the radiator with the hoses at the top to avoid sucking air into the pump..?

Also waiting for stock in the UK, Jacob has tweeted it's at least next week for EU stock. BTW... Is the EU pricing correct? 179 euros? Seems steep, that converts to over £190 dollars.

I pre order two Ti kits from BH on the 5th and the order status now shows processing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

You'll always want the rad higher from the pump so any air pocket inside the sealed loop if any, stays in the radiator so it doesn't get circulated back to the pump which can create audible issues let alone some performance loss possibly.

Time for some pics...

Thanks man! Yes, I'm using a Corsair 750D full tower. I don't know if the hoses in this sized case would reach the front, I've honestly never tried. If they did, I think they would be a tight fit. I have an MSI Z270 Gaming M7 board, with a 7700K. For Push/Pull, you'll need to pick up an extra set of long screws. EVGA only provides one set for a single fan. If I were you, I'd try messing around with some mounting locations, possibly moving your H115i to the front of the case, and then see about mounting both Hybrids at the top.

I just tested to make sure the H115i will fit in the front, and it does.  Should be interesting trying to snake both sets of hoses towards the top to mount both radiators up there!
