And to think the FTW will be even better. EVGA knocked it out of the park this time around. Well done.

Did the previous card you had in your case run at the same temperatures reviewers were seeing, or did it run a little warmer too?

Previous card was the 1080 SC, and I don't think it ever cracked 70c. I just turned off my custom fan curves and I'm going to do some testing. With the asymmetrical fans, maybe I should just let it stay on the default settings.

Hmm interesting.  75C seems to be pretty high for just margin of error, especially if your previous card wasn't running at that temp.

Well it looks like you've got enough clearance and room around it to maintain low temperatures.

I put it on the default program and it peaked at 68c-70c. Lesson learned, default fan curve is best. I guess there's something to the asymmetrical fans after all.

Does your SC2 have a black shroud, or is it just the lighting? It looks really nice IMO.

Thanks. Wish I'd taken a top-down picture so I could do an apples-to-apples shot with the new Powerlink, but I'm not digging around my desk again. The Powerlink really cleaned up the case look because, with that, I was able to route the 8+8 GPU cables through the back. As for the shroud, it's just the angle, got the SC2:

Well the temps are based on a single run in The Division's build-in benchmark, which isn't very long. The card didn't heat up to it's max in this short review. You can easily add 3-4c depending on your case in a real world gaming session.
Heck even the Founders stayed at 82c, we all know they all run into the 84c fairly quickly where they then really start to throttle.
So realisticly the card gets warmer, but also the performance gap between the SC and the FE is a bit wider over time, since the SC doesn't have to dynamically adjust the clocks down due to heat as much as the FE model has to.

Not sure i like the new design on the cooler, its not really diecting the heat away from the fans which would recycle hot air into the GPU cooler...

Sounds good! Hopefully we don't have too many flaming hot GPUs.

That's a big card. But it won't be a problem for my case since the gravity won't make it sag.
