Well what exactly is your issue?
Check your DP cable first and try another mini display port, those tend to be unstable. If I touch the cable it can easily lose connection and the monitor goes black. Try a Cmos Reset. Try to boot into windows save mode.
When I first swapped my kingpin in and removed the FTW3 I had all kinds of weird issues with black screen and unable to get into windows. And almost always a reinstall of PrecisionX is required, when swapping cards.

Sound like you have Motherboard Issue then, and I would stay away from "Asus EZ-Update"
Also "Asus EZ-Update" should not be doing anything to your EVGA Graphics Card, any Model.
You see a lot Asus ROG MAXIMUS X HERO Owners post here about that Motherboard.
But I agree with Snipes7 what is the Issue or Problem you are having?
Maybe a DP or HDMI or even a DVI Cable Issue or maybe a Monitor Issue?

Great to hear you did not need to RMA them.

That's really odd. The card was working fine for 3 weeks then out of the blue it just stops working. Now it's working again after updating the motherboard bios, and the gpu vbios.
