Got my 1080 SC yesterday, and realized that the protective plastic was under the screws. A T45 torx and 30 minutes later, (almost) all the plastic off and ready to be installed.
Removed my old Asus 670 OC, I put in the 1080 SC only to see that the screw holes in back of the card and the expansion slot don't line up. I had to partially drive a thumb screw in (at a very steep angle) to take the pressure off the pci-e slot, and can't get the other one in.
Could this be a result of taking the hex screws out or is this a QA issue? I'm afraid that too much pressure will be put on the pci slot and cause premature wear of the motherboard/card. The case is an NZXT S340.
Thanks.

I am increasingly sad that I ordered an SC. I'm annoyed that I have to take the lousy plastic off and now this? Wow, I am sorry OP. I'd RMA that card, something doesn't sound right.
My SC comes on Tuesday and I'm really not looking forward to getting it now.

OP don't break your mobo. If you do it'll be on you, evga won't help with that. It's not worth it.

OP can you zip tie the card to the case?
You shouldn't have to do that obviously but that may be an option.

I am sorry to hear this. Would it be possible for you to upload a photo of the area that is not lining up? Please let us know.

The computer is at my office. I've got to run some errands and I'll stop by to snap a picture.
The plastic, while annoying, isn't a massive deal. What's frustrating is if removing the screws caused the frame to shift, throwing everything off center.

This guy's SC card seems to be perfectly aligned. I'm not sure why the hyperlink icon is greyed out.

Couldn't get the images to upload here from my phone so I uploaded it to an imgur album. In the photos, that's as far as the card will go against the expansion slot, and trying to slightly push it back does not work. To me, it also feels like the card will not completely seat due to the I/O shield on the card and the card is not hitting anything to keep it from sitting properly. Tried it in the first and second x16 slots and get the same results. I included my Asus 670 for reference. *edit* I can't add an imgur link via phone on here? The photo upload doesn't work for me on this forum and I'm currently on the road with 2g service.

With this picture that was provided, the right side is not seated as far as the left side (from this view). There may be a display port cover or HDMI cover hanging on the case. Remove all I/O covers on the card and make see if it lines up. Reach through, and give the case a slight pull in to line them up. Mine does this when I have it out of the case (my motherboard tray is removeable). This is a very easy fix. It sounded like they were completely covered. A slight pull will line everything up and won't damage anything.

The other picture like the one above looks like there are indeed io covers on the card that are wedged between the plate and the case.

There is a tiny little silver lip on the fan side (bottom?) that was just ever so slightly touching the expansion slot cover which was not allowing it to fully seat. Didn't see it until you mentioned taking the IO covers off. I feel like a total idiot for not seeing that earlier haha, I'll blame it on the past few days and drink a beer, get some frags in and go to bed. Thanks for your help!

I'm glad it was just an easily fixed 'problem.' Loving this card! Averaging around 2075Mhz and 63C. If the 1080 FTW turns out to be a strong overclocker, how does the Step-Up program work? Would my OC qualify for a step up to the FTW or Classified?

The FTW and classified is not on the step up list. Currently the step list only consists of the absolute base model cards.
