Was looking at the vid cards and I'm curious why is the 1070 FTW more $$ than the 1070 SC?  The SC has faster base/boost clock but the other speeds are the same.  Can anyone help with this?

Mobo:  Asus Maximus Formula VI | CPU:  Intel I7-4750K  | Vid Card:  EVGA 780 Ti  | SSD:  Samsung  250 GB | Memory: 16 GB | Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower 850 | Case:  Cooler Master Sniper  | OS: Windows 7

Lot's of other posts on this.  The FTW has higher clocks than the SC.  Maybe you typed that in wrong.

FTW is a custom PCB, RGB lighting, more power phases, dual BIOS, etc.

The specific model is EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW DT GAMING ACX 3.0 which according to the EVGA website is $30 more than the SC version (EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition) and also has slower clock speeds.

    SC Base/Boost Clock is 1594 MHz / 1784 MHz      P/N: 08G-P4-5173-KR

    FTW Base/Boost Clock is 1506 MHz / 1683 MHz    P/N: 08G-P4-6274-KR

I do see another FTW version that is faster, so my bad for not specifying.

All the above then except clock speed. Read through the above post.

The DT cards are the rejects that wouldn't meet the factory overclock requirements of FTW cards when tested.  In other words, they are very likely poor overclockers and should be priced way cheaper than they are, it's especially crazy on EVGA's website where the DT and FTW 1070s are priced identically.

I’m glad I got this deal then! I was upset I missed the Amazon one for the SC. They are indeed better cards. Just marketed wrong.

Thus people saying myths like you can’t OC them at all, neutered etc.

Got a great deal on a 1070 FTW DT the other day. Doing +203/+710 no problem, at 2113MHz on the core and a blistering 4714MHz on mem. Max temp after heat saturation is 59C. Wish the power limit was higher (wasn't expecting only 112% since my previous 670 could go up to 122%) but overall can't complain given the sale price I got it for and high how it overclocks to.
