Aug 5th. If release is that day, they will be released then I would assume.

Just looked at the date, lol! It could have been a mistake on someone's part, but I doubt it. The boards are featured on evga website, so I would have thought the CPU would be available at the same time.

Yes, that's what I see everywhere,I already bought the Z170 FTW and G.Skill 3200 4x4 ddr4 kit. That stuff is on the way.
My main rig is a 920 so this should be a step up for me. I just need to order a 6700k and figure out what cooling to get.
Any suggestions what cooling should work? I have been on water for years(actually before all the ready-made sealed loop kits were available) so either is fine. Thanks

I would say an AIO if you are comfortable with sealed units. I have never had any issues with an AIO, and they work very well.

ok, it looks like newegg has combos with skylake 6600k's that say release date 8/14/15. so MAYBE all the chips will be ready to buy and ship on the 14th???

I preordered my 4790k Devil's Canyon CPU and Tiger-Direct shipped it UPS making sure that I had it on release day. At 10:00am there was a knock on my door and there was my CPU. More than likely most retailers have the chips in stock but just can't sell them yet.

not sure, was reading up a little on wiki last night, they still have release date as the 30th?

    .nevermind...

guess this will be the norm for a bit...

I see the i5-6600k pre-order bundles on Newegg for 8/14 release only, but no i7-6700k pre-order bundles there or anywhere else.  Would be nice if Intel would give us a date when the i7 will be available or if Newegg would list some i7 bundle deals instead of just a box saying coming soon.

Looks like they were released internationally seeing as they were announced at Gamescom, and the US has to wait a few extra weeks.  I'm ok with this arrangement, but they could have at least provided us with a date for the i7 in the US.

The Corsair H80, H100 or H110 are all great options. I have the Corsair H110i GT on my i7-4790k and I idle at 28-32c just depends on what I'm doing. The i7-6700k is supposed to run 2-3c cooler so that would be fine for any of those coolers. I kind of wished I had waited for this chip as I just built my a LGA 1150 build.

It's annyoing that these chips are not only not available but expected to be in short supply. It's especially annoying since it's not a real improvement at all over Devil's Canyon. This upgrade is only worthwhile for the chipset

Yea, it's an improvement but not enough of a justification if you have the devils canyon like I do. The only real difference is the DDR3 to DDR4.

Well my Z170 FTW came in today, but still no chip. I called around and Intel has not told vendors that the chips have even shipped to re-sellers.

Micro Center in St. Louis told me they expect to receive the i7 on Friday, but since they only just got the i5 on Monday I think he has no idea and just said that to send me an hundreds of others away...LOL  As with many others, my new PC build is in the mail, but no chip to power it...doh...damn you Intel!

That is outrageous to want over $5000 for a CPU

Intel list is $350 so what is this dealer trying to do is called fraud and gouging which is illegal in most countries

I have checked several stores and prices are still above the Intel list price, so there I strongly suggest boycotting the whole platform until prices down down to sane levels

Would never pay to prices in the links above or what it'd cost to import a chip from overseas, but I'm expecting Newegg to be around the $350-$389 range.  MSRP is $350, and I really want my gaming PC running again, it's been dead for the past 2 months so I'd be willing to pay the $389 if that's what it takes +overnight shipping.

my box still boots up so I am not so hinked up over getting a new CPU

Sadly, my Ivy Bridge build was hit by a jolt during a lightning storm several moths ago and has been slowly failing ever since.  A first it was ok, but then my ram began to fail, drivers wouldn't work or reinstall, random crashes and freezes, BSODs reporting hardware failures, etc.   Finally last week the MB just wouldn't boot.  Couldn't really play any games seriously since the jolt because nothing was working well, then I learned that Skylake was releasing Aug 5th so I've been holding out until then to rebuild.  This delay and ignorance of Intel not saying why the Skylake i7 is still not avail in the US is really annoying, even though every article about the CPU says its been released worldwide.

Thankfully, my SLi 780Tis were not affected, saves me a ton in rebuild costs.

maybe it would be less costly to get a new motherboard for your CPU etc which would save a heap
X97 boards are still widely available and prices have softened

Considered that, but I'm not sure if the CPU{3770K} was affected too{no other board to test it on.}.  Decided to just build a new PC with the latest tech considering the cost would be similar and I get a new/clean case, etc.

    Will consider it.

Found this listing for the i7-6700K and if that expected availability date is accurate in general, that sucks.  Hopefully Newegg gets it this week and that Sept 10th date is just their prediction of stock.

I asked Intel and they said widespread availability should seen in mid September, there are some i5-6600K available but more stock will be seen in September onwards

They are just staring to ramp up production, motherboards are simply getting ahead of the game
