Checked Newegg - a new combo just came up today where you don't have to spend a few hundred dollars extra on a motherboard you don't even want.

You got'er just in time. Sold out. Seems like they have the other combos. Weird combo. :) Lame they force you into a combo at all. I guess it better than just jacking up the price. At least you get something for the inflated cost.

I've ordered with 3 day delivery, and it's gone into packaging stage - just hoping I don't get an email later today telling me it's on back order... 
I'll update once it says shipped.. or otherwise.
It's shipped!! Should have it on Thursday. Nereus
Of course EVGA has no Z170 Stingers in stock, and hasn't for a while...
Asked EVGA if they are making any more; they are, but no ETA. Newegg 30 day replacement on the i7-6700k. Might have to buy an FTW board in the interim to make sure the CPU is good. :/

Thanks for that - I looked just recently and they didn't have any. Just ordered one.  ..I only hope it's not one of their infamous "refurbished for the price of a new one" motherboards.

Wow.. just checked and both the EVGA Z170 Stinger and the thermometer have been delivered! I only ordered the Stinger 18 hours ago!!!!!
CPU is due for delivery on Thursday.
Will have a close look at the Stinger.. don't care about the thermometer lol.

Just got mine in Nereus, if it was refurb its impossible to tell, I highly doubt it. It was sealed, all EVGA package seals untouched. I think they are new. Never have had a problem with Newegg in the 13 years I have purchased from them.

Yup it looks good. Shrink wrap intact, EVGA seals unbroken both ends, inside looks all new with the clear plastic covering on various parts of the motherboard, no fingerprints etc.. All good. I've received used / open box from Newegg in the past when paying for new, and you'll usually know when you get one, trust me. Still amazed it was at my door within 18 hours of placing the order.. that's incredible. I paid for 3-day ground.
